It's time for these young coaches to be promoted. All these dinosaur coaches know how to stop old school offenses that no one is running...The younger guys are more innovative and have grown up in these spread and hi octane offenses..

The difference is that Brady was the immediate, first choice, "must have" up-and-coming talent.

Literally nobody knew that in spring of 2019. Not even Coach O himself knew how fast Brady would explode.

The point is that he was a "must have on the staff" coach that was immediately targeted. Jones was furthest from that. Forgive me if I'm not excited about the hire.

uh, When Joe Brady actually got OC keys, the Panthers finished 5-12. So there's that.

I was Pretty excited because we were hiring a PGC and I thought Within the limitation of the posterior he was a great hire

It’s hard to find a guy who is willing to come and not be the OC under E. Even now people try and not give him his due.

Here were hiring a DC and this guy is out of left field.

You're right, Brady re designed the engine and Ensminger drove it but when it was a sharp turn Brady took the wheel.

That was all Ensminger who did all the play calling. Brady just helped with some passing schemes is all.

I must have missed that. Was he before or after Ensminger?

LSU didn’t give Brady the OC keys, Ensminger was there, before and after.
LSU is handing the DC keys to Jones, there’s no one else, no safety net.

Nobody knew who he was outside in January 2019. Stop with the revisionist history that it was obvious he was the next big name in offensive coaching.

I am willing to bet you can go back to when he was hired and there are negative, some would say borderline melting, threads on the rant about his hiring.

It's a terrible comparison.

Regardless who you want to credit more for the 2019 season, there was still an established OC in place prior to this hire to work with.

I believe it was the perfect blend.

This is not the same type of situation at all. I feel like DC is a far more important hire than even OC.

I would disagree. I'm sure you could find negative talk about any hire. However, I believe there was a ton of excitement. Go dig up some old threads.

Several people were raving about him. There was excitement. I remember articles about how Sean Payton absolutely did not want to lose him. He also have rave reviews from his Penn St? stays.

I was 100% sold on the hire of Brady.

The majority of LSU fans on here were thrilled about the hiring of Joe Brady.

He didn't get the OC keys. Technically he was second in command to Ensminger.

EDIT- He may have actually had the keys, but we were not told that at the time. I would not have complained anyway.

Guy, the story was that several LSU coaches saw him in a seminar, whereafter they went to Coach O saying they had to get this guy on staff.

It's not revisionist history, it's a fact of how Brady's hiring went down. They had to have him.

Uhm...when did 29yr old Joe Brady get the OC keys at LSU? He got them at the Carolina Panthers, but never while at LSU.

Moreover, in my opinion it's not about age when hiring a coach. It's more about hiring the right coach.
