LINKNew #Chargers coach Brandon Staley is bringing along at least one assistant from the #Rams — Joe Barry is expected to join Staley as defensive passing game coordinator and linebackers coach, sources tell me and @RapSheet.

It’s definitely good news that Barry’s out of the mix. We don’t need him or Richard being the fallback guys with some better potentials still out there.
As for the Pete Carrol thing, I get it based on past hires, but look at this year. So far, our main targets have all been younger guys on the way up. Hopefully O sticks with that and finally lands a DC soon.

I think if anything O was really looking at a possible position coach for him as well as possibly elevating him to some other title like assistant HC to help with other things. There's no way O was dumb enough to hire that guy as DC.

Yeah, he was mentioned high on the list a few weeks ago and then recently possibly the #1. He was definitely looking at him for something. I'm not convinced it was DC though. It's hard to believe O would be that dumb for a guy who's not a coordinator. He's good in other roles and positions but he's an awful DC. He's a career destroyer.

His name has been thrown around a bunch.
I believe they definitely talked to him. Maybe it was for co-dc linebackers coach under nielsen but they were definitely talking to him.
