Every candidate no matter who will have their detractors here on this crazy site. But I fully expect one of the biggest melts ever over this hire as I don’t believe it will be the big splashy hire so many are expecting. We are not getting Riley, Dabo , Rhule, Tomlin, Smart, Saban, jimbo, Cristobal, lol!

It depends on the hire, and how players react to whomever and recruits.

If he hires Chris Peterson there will be a wild party up in here.

Whay don't you think LSU will get Matt Rhule of Lincoln Riley..There are 11 to 12 million reasons for them to listen

Using your list, by process of elimination, you must think it will be Mel Tucker or Kiffin.

Here are the "for sures not coming"
Dabo, no way....he is staying at Clemson. Wait for Saban to retire, then he will go to Bama if he can keep the success up at Clemson

Smart, why would he leave UGA. He is king there and is in the East away from Saban, except in SEC Title games or playoffs. He gets recruits. No reason for him to leave.

Jimbo, see above. No reason for him to leave. The money won't be much better. BR isn't the same when they were last here.

Woodward would have to work pretty hard to hire someone bad enough to cause an Orgeron sized melt. About 20-30% liked the hire. The other 70-80% of us were

Lol. Several reasons but the biggest by far is having the state of Louisiana as your recruiting base. A&M is primarily relevant to TX recruits. Jimbo knows a move to LSU gives him a far better chance at winning a championship

I tend to agree.

IMO, if it is a "splash" hire there are probably only two guys who could fit the bill who might actually strongly consider job.

1. Urban Myer. His situation may be 2006 Nick Saban 2.0. Long time and very successful college HC tries the NFL only to quickly realize being a NFL HC is a whole different ballgame. One he's not really cut out to play. If he wants to coach in college again Urban is not going to do so at a place where he can't recruit at a high level or win at a high level. Because he doesn't have to. He spent 6 years playing LSU and only managed a .500 record. He knows he can win big at LSU just as easily as he could at OSU or Florida.

2. Brian Kelly. He has won everywhere he has been. He quickly turned ND from an underachieving relic of a past powerhouse to a national championship contender (1 BCS NC game, 2 playoff appearances). But he also knows he likely has a ceiling at ND and he just can't quite get past the public school powerhouses (Alabama, Ohio St, Clemson). The LSU job gives him the opportunity to take the final step in reaching the top of the CFB mountain. If you are a guy who has been so close in your career, but deep down you know you just can't get there at your current school, why not make one final move to reach the ultimate glory?

Most people are here for the drama, not football. Half the board will be upset when the new coach is named and will not support until he is gone.

Worse than the Political Board which seems impossible.

I agree. There really isn't a perfect candidate and just about every one of them has a faction of posters that don't like them.
