Our coach is already secured and we could’ve had any Group of five coaches we wanted within 15 min including Napier.

Well, the good news is that we’ll have a direct apples to apples comparison over the next several years with LSU’s new coach and UF’s new coach, so we’ll get to see clearly who gets it right.

I had a drinking buddy who had the same pickup strategy, he called it "Go Ugly Early"

UF went to the dance with a 5 and didn’t ask anyone else because they knew she’d say yes.

Gainesville aimed low and got their Shetland pony.

This UF hire isn’t a whole lot different than their Mullen hire.

Guess you just have to give it a few years. If Napier really is this young Saban type that people claim then they crushed it.

Only time will tell. But on paper, Napier shines compared to Matt Campbell. Both process-oriented football-first guys but Napier looks like an up-and-comer while Campbell looks like a guy with one good season and a few marquee wins with a slew of turd losses.

How has their last couple of hires worked out? This isn’t an indicator that they got the best coach. They just got a coach the fastest.

They just let the media do the vetting and swooped in. I think they got a good coach but they had a good coach. Napier may be more balanced with the defense but he’s not a better offensive play caller than Mullen.

What do you think would happen if LSU wanted Napier?

very little drama

By your logic Alleva did a fantastic job hiring Orgeron

usc got their man too and they fired Helton before us.

Let it all happen.

False. It’s been made abundantly clear that Woody had no interest in him. That’s been reported by a few outlets.

Same ones saying “the ink was dry” on Riley?

Funny how the “outlets” are either trusted or full of Sh it based on what you want to believe

Because they hired a guy and probably didn’t look at other candidates? Really?

Like everything else both will probably be mixed bags, even if mostly successful. But sure, we'll get to see how they play out.

LSU fans on this thread are just convinced that anything less than a sure thing hire is beneath them, which is bizarre as better programs than LSU rarely get to make "sure thing hires." They're almost all risky.

That's why the Napier hire makes sense. Who knows if it'll work, but it's a hire almost any big program would have thought hard about. It's highly unlikely LSU is going to get someone who provides a considerably more certain outcome.

And they'll never accept the actual hire. That's how it goes around here.

So if we had fired O and hired Terry Bowden the next day that would have been putting on a clinic because we hired a coach quickly?
