No deal has been struck between Tennessee and Washington State's Mike Leach, and Tennessee AD John Currie is back in Knoxville. Currie is scheduled to meet Friday morning with chancellor Beverly Davenport and other school officials to reassess the search.
— Chris Low

More from Low:
No, not saying Leach or anybody is out of play, just that Tennessee is discussing the search further and reassessing everything.

Currie is sabotaging the whole process now in order to end up hiring Schiano anyway, so he can still have his man

Even I'm mad at Tennessee now. The thought of Leach in the SEC sucked me in and now I'm disappointed.

Exactly.

And the thought of Saban having to defend that offense once a year sounded awesome.

Does that mean he has to go back and beg for more money again?

This sounds like a good time to let Currie go.

would be great. Especially if he then named himself head coach and hired John Chavis as DC.

Yeah, almost reaching a deal with Leach seems like the perfect time to reassess your coaching search

What a shitshow

Fulmer gonna come in as short term AD to stop the bleeding and bring the band back together? Ensure Cutcliffe, Tee Martin, Chavis and even Manning are all involved in the staff/shadow staff at least over the short term, allow Cutcliffe to retire in a couple/few years and then perform a real professional search?

Did they tell him Leach was off limits and he talked to him anyway?

Tennessee is basically giving themselves the death penalty at this point. If they can't get Leach, they are done.

ETA: I have always figured the higher ups in charge at these institutions were for the most part nothing but high paid empty suits. Every year it is apparent the people in charge don't have a fricking clue what they are doing, have no contingency plans and basically are good for nothing at all. The utter incompetency on display for the most part every single year is astounding.

The one place that seemed to have their shite together, MSU, hired a winning baseball coach as their AD. A proven winner. Someone who has actually accomplished something worthwhile in life, not handed a position as part of the GOBN.

He is good at hostile take overs. His bullshite he pulled against Majors and UT once before was crazy.

He told UT AD if they did not hire him he was taking the Wyoming job, taking most of the staff. All this while Majors was in hospital for heart attack.
