How long will it be before Navy's coach makes an upward move?

I can't see any (more) BCS schools embracing the triple option.

Agree. Triple option works best at schools that aren't going to out recruit their rivals, like Georgia Tech. Just have to recruit OL and RBs.

VANDY should have went after him.

That offense would have never worked in the SEC.

Neither have their past offenses.

It would work fine with the right personnel.

He would've been a great fit at Vandy. He's used to having strict standards impact recruiting and playing against schools with a higher talent level. I think he could've had them playing a bowl every year.

The triple option could work very well in the SEC if the offense committed to 10 to 15 passes every game to keep the DBs honest. It's a ball control offense and hell, we could have used this offense in 08 and won more games than 7 during the regular season. FWIW I really like this offense if you have the talent like LSU does, plus our big WRs make for great blockers down field.

Tough to say whether it would work in the SEC. Probably would make a splash the first year, but as SEC DC's prep for it on a yearly basis I think it could be contained.
Combine it with more of downfield threat- ie the spread option- and i think you'd have something.
Its fun to watch though. You can actually see Navy's opponents get frustrated as they cant stop it and therefore cant get their own offense on the field.

Vandy has tried that style of offense, not what the 32k that show up to games wants frankly so they are not making that foolish move again
Vandy was in a bowl game with Bobby as coach, they don't need tricks to atleast compete and make bowls occasionally

quote:2 bowls in 25 years= occasionally? clearly they want more than your definition of occasionally if they were willing to throw $3M/yr at malzahn.

i think the offense does more with less and beats bad teams, but when GT plays a higly skilled team- like LSU in 08 chicken sammich bowl, they arent nearly as effective. good D will stop that attack b/c a lack of balance on offense. a big time school will never adopt it for this reason- and b/c the QB is so important and takes alot of hits.

2nd bowl game in the history of the school, and the 1st bowl game since 1982. I wouldn't call that "occasionally".

ok still doesn't change the FACT that Vandy doesn't want that style offense anywhere near Nashville
