The language the Saints are asking for is to prevent Nielsen from coming back to the nfl for a year or two. They don't want him returning to a conference foe (Brady to the Panthers) after next year. Very reasonable in my opinion.

I don’t know where you’re getting your information from but if true this does LSU a favor

For sure.

So, essentially, what the Saints might be saying is that we will wave any monies owed due to our employee breaking his contract and leaving for another job, as long as the next agreement strongly prohibits this soon-to-be ex-employee leaving the NCAA and going to the NFL over the period of x-number of years.

Seems reasonable.

Is this a guess, or are you getting this from somewhere reputable?

Are you saying that the Saints are trying to dictate the terms of a contract being drawn up between LSU and Nielsen? Or that the Saints are trying to negotiate a document with Nielsen severing their relationship. And how does the fact that going to another NFL team for a promotion is generally ok play into the scenario?

that language could definitely work in BOTH the Saints and LSU's favor.

I don't think they're trying to "dictate", simply an ask to LSU/Nielsen, in turn the Saints would make it easier for Nielsen to become DC.

If LSU/Nielsen were not willing to agree with the Saints ask, then it sounds as if the Saints feel they can make this much more difficult than it needs to be.
