A number of Washington State assistant coaches have also been terminated, the names of which have not yet been released.

May not be able to field a team even if the players don't follow through with their threat to walk.

On what grounds? It was for cause he violated policy/procedure. He knew this he played a game of dare and lost. I applaud his principles, but actions have consequences.

His contract almost certainly said he had to follow the laws and regulations of the State of Washington.

He'll never win a lawsuit over this. A big waste of his money. Few lawyers in Washington would be stupid enough to take up this issue on a contingency basis.

If nurses get fired in Houston due to non-vax and it held up in Texas courts, the firing of public employees non-vaxed (after warnings for months about it) will certainly get held up in Washington. He may win in the local Spokane courts, but the State Supreme Court would never hold up such a ruling.

But there is a requirement to be employed by the state

COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement Information
In accordance with Washington State Governor’s Proclamation 21-14.1, as a condition of employment, all WSU employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved medical/religious accommodation no later than October 18, 2021. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving their last shot in a vaccine series. Vaccine or an approved accommodation for new employees will be verified no later than October 18, 2021. If the effective date of appointment is October 18, 2021 or later vaccine or approved accommodation status will be verified prior to first day of employment. Please reach out to Human Resource Services (HRS) at hrs@wsu.edu or 509-335-4521 if you have questions regarding this.

So he has no leg to file suit

The state of Washington decided to mandate that all state employees get vaccinated.

Things like this just make me sad. I'm sad that people like Rolovich lose their jobs. I'm sad that people have pushed insane conspiracy theories about the vaccines (and have killed over 90,000 people who would be alive without those crazy conspiracies). And I'm sad for the players and fans of the university, who've now had their season ruined.
