New Report out of Knoxville, 6:15pm Cutcliffe in Disagreement w/AD

This just came across the radio. Cutcliffe has been offered and wants to come to Knoxville. Hamilton wants to keep the current coaches and Cutcliffe wants to bring his own coaches. Hamilton also wants to bring in Chavis as the DC. Hamilton might screw this up as well.

I'm listening to the show now. The Hosts are saying if they bring Cutcliffe in then they need Chavis and want him back. They also want Hamilton out and Fulmer in as AD.
Aslo the bottom line is this. After the recent rejections, mainly Muschamp, they feel there is no home run coach available who would come this late. They understand Cutcliffe is only a double or a triple get.

I don't know what's worse. Having to stoop down to hireing David Cutcliffe or David Cutcliffe making demands to the point he won't be the coach?
I really don't like Chavis and wanted LSU hire George Edwards, but Florida beat us to it.

I don't think Chavis wants to go back to UT based on his past comments. But if Momma calls and he feels he needs to do it out of duty then he might go. Kiffin has really screwed Tennessee and that might sway him. I certainly hope not.

It might be that the AD doesn't actually want to hire Cutcliffe, but feels pressure to make a run at him. If Cutcliffe turns it down, he can say he offered, but DC didn't accept.

I'm getting the impression from this fiasco and a book about TN from 2008 that the real problem is Hamilton as the AD.

I've heard from a connected UT friend that because they have an Interim UT President that usually would make the firing of Hamiltom, the Board has to make the firing and that needs a 75% vote to get it down. It's truly a mess in Knoxville right now.

How in the Hell can they keep giving updates like this? They act like someone is calling them from the negotiation.

Duke's DC won some award as assistant coach of the year (not the Broyles Award, but something similar). However, he accepted the head coaching position at San Jose State a few weeks ago. I believe the current DC at Duke was the head coach at Cornell last year.
