I've said it a million times. Nebraska isn't coming back with the PEDs like old times.

We need Pellini back in the big leagues just for his sideline demeanor.

This is why Pelini hasn't gotten a P5 job:
“...he should no longer be a leader of young men at Nebraska. His habitual use of inappropriate language, and his personal and professional attacks on administrators, are antithetical to the values of our university. His behavior is consistent with a pattern of unprofessional, disrespectful behavior directed by Mr. Pelini toward the passionate fans of Nebraska, employees of the university and, most concerning, our student-athletes.”

The details on this have to be interesting. Feels like if he had won 2 more games this year he wouldn’t get an extension. But because they’re so disappointing the AD has to back him up.

I would watch that on pay-per-view. Double erections.

You may not be old enough to remember, but Osborne became the Huskers HC in 1973, a time when ticket sales were the prime source of revenue for football programs, as at most schools only the fans who showed up got to see the games. Nebraska’s big draw to national recruits was TV exposure, because due to their already-established success they ended up getting at least 2 of their regular games on ABC every season (which was a far bigger deal than it sounds now).

Back in the day there were a handful of programs that benefitted from regular exposure on TV - Bama, Texas, USC, tOSU, Michigan, Notre Dame. Nebraska, and Oklahoma. at least one of those schools’ games were televised every week, and virtually no others (unless they were playing one of the powerhouses).

Obviously, those days are long gone, and the Huskers no longer have that as an advantage to sell to recruits. Combine that with their small-and-getting-smaller demographic base, and they’ve become just another middle-of-the-road P5 program.

They’ve been in the top 25 to start the season because they’ve been grossly overrated in preseason polls not sure how anybody who’s watched them play can say that Frost will ever win there, they look absolutely awful and poorly coached.

We’ve seen it time and time again, coaches who are going to win, win almost immediately. I’ve never seen a coach go 3-9 in year 1 and proceed to have a highly successful career in my entire life, and if has happened, it’s an absolute freak anomaly

That happens all the time.
Didn't pj fleck go 3-7 then 8-6 to 10-2 at his last 2 stops

No it doesn’t. Why don’t you name 3 more, then compare it to the dozens and dozens of successful coaches at major programs who’ve never had 3-9, 2-10, 1-11 type seasons. Typical TD stupidity pretending that one person is the rule and not the exception

He's Tom's Boy. Tradition matters far more than anything else.

The kids who used to walk-on at Nebraska are now getting schollies to Group of 5 schools.

Leaving the Big XII was a mistake in my opinion. Although, demographically, they should be at least as good as Iowa, considering there's only one major school in Nebraska, and two in Iowa.

Nebraska had 3 things going that allowed them to be a powerhouse program.

1. Steroids by the gallon.

2. A willing and compliant regional media that overlooked the murderers, domestic abusers, and thieves Osborne picked up from JUCOs and roadside trash duty to play for him.

3. For a long time, every county in Nebraska was allotted 1 free-ride scholarship to NU to bestow on a player. This allowed Osborne to exceed athletic scholarship limits by a dozen or more players with the best homegrown players from the state being free-ride "walk-ons". Think they regularly carried 110+ players through the 80s and early 90s.

They can’t be dumb enough to make his buyout higher . He is going to fail at a Nebraska because he will never get the talent he needs . Lucky for Scott he plays in the weaker division in the B10.

I am in my 50s I hated Nebraska when Missouri was in the Big 12. They have cheated their way to get players to go to nowhere land! Missouri was losing top recruits from the State of Missouri that went to Nebraska! Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska are the ones I hate the most!

The hate the gator fans have for the huskers is great.

Frost isn’t going to be able to bring the dead program back

They’ll never be as dominant as they were, but the “middle America” and “lack of recruits” excuses don’t fly.

Iowa is two hours away from Lincoln and they’re a perennial top 20 team. Wisconsin doesn’t have a bunch of geographical help and they’re the same. Wiscy actually pulls quite a few kids from the south.

Nebraska has plenty of resources to be a top 25 team with 9+ wins year in and year out.

Iowa has been in the top 20 just 3 times in the past 15 seasons (with a chance to make it 4 this year).

They've finished in the AP top 25 only 23 times in the 80+ years of polling.

They recently went four consecutive seasons (2011-2014) without receiving a single vote in any poll at any time during those years.
