Good point. Also, what is his offensive philosophy? Would he run Johnson's triple option at Minnesota? He has done well at Navy, but Johnson really is the architect that got Navy back to this point. It's hard to tell whether Niumatalolo is just sustaining that model, and whether he could resurrect a program himself.

He came closer to beating Ohio State at the Horseshoe than any Minnesota HC has in the last 45 years. Niumatalolo would be a good hire for them provided he can recruit.

I'd agree, and even if he isn't the greatest recruiter in the world, you would think he would get a little bit better athletes at Minn than he has at Navy.
My question, is would he run the triple option at Minn, or does he simply run that out of necessity at Navy? Would Minn become Georgia Tech Light?

It may be a question mark, but if Minnesota were to hire a proven recruiter (Shannon), it's likely that recruiting would be the only thing they'd be able to do well.

Minnesota's new stadium and their tremendous new facilities should make recruiting for the Gophers easier than in past years.

Navy doesn't run the spread option. They run the triple option, which is great until you fall behind and can't throw the ball.
