And they did so very happily. UL played Texas this year, Iowa State and Ms State last year. At the end of the day what's more important? National recognition by being ranked, or getting an extra $500,000 to be blown out by Bama?
You mean extra 1.5 mil they were playing 2/3 a year pre Napier
They basically "fundraised" 500k less a year then what they were getting from that congrats to him.
They're basically getting 1/4 of it from this and bonding it basically like they have every other project to do with facilities. It's not like he's bringing in 15 mil a year or even getting them to sell out the stadium

We just got done trying that with O. I think we deserve a coach who can do things on AND off the field. Kind of like the successful coaches generally do?!

You're making points nobody wants to talk about because most don't actually watch ULL/Sun Belt football. It's Les Miles ball in the shotgun.
It's a very simple offense with window dressing. My biggest complaint about him is he tries to get too cute sometimes. Yesterday 4th and short from the 3 yard line. Instead of running it up the middle with Johnson, which our O-line dominated them all game, he bootlegs Lewis out and Lewis has a blitzer right in his face. Tunover on downs, could have put the game away at that point

Wow he beat 6 garbage teams by a touchdown or less this season. What an accomplishment
Have you checked out OUs game scores against inferior opponents? But they won.
Do you know Aranda lost to an interim coach and won by 3 over a team with a coach it hired mid-season?
I can give similar examples all day.
I love Riley and Aranda for LSU coach. But the comparisons need to be consistent, come on.

To his credit he's built the o and d line very well.
However, unless he can road grade teams the Cajuns are going to struggle because they're not good offensively.
This is why they do probably have more talent then most sun belt teams yet scrape out games.
His QB development has been atrocious as well.
Levi Lewis is terrible and he's had him for 4 years

He's the OC.
My point is that what he does off the field is 95% of why you hire a guy like Napier.

And the offense itself should be a far bigger issue than his being a G5 coach. If he runs that offense in the SEC, it's a total disaster.

And who do you think they will get to replace Napier? UL is way up on the list of places coaches want to coach. The perception of the program has changed. I understand your point, but pre-Napier UL needed more than money to turn things around and put all their cards into his vision

If I remember correctly the finalists were
Him/ Doug Nussmeier (lol) and don't remember the third
When you're paying 2.5 mil you're going to have interest

The offense is predicated on what Lewis can do. He isn't very accurate, but is a smart player. Has only a handful of pics this year

It's not like he's bringing Levi Lewis with him.
His inability to get a QB better then Levi at ULL is a definite red flag
It's like Jimbo with mond

Where have we heard this excuse before? Literally every single year Miles had a shite offense the excuse was the QB sucked despite their talent and despite the talent around them.
Then we realized with Burrow having a good offensive system can actually negate a lot of QB weaknesses.
What that means is that it doesn't matter if the ULL QB isn't good, it means Napier runs a garbage offensive system.
I have no clue why some LSU fans are so addicted to garbage lame arse offenses. It's like an addiction.
The rest of college football evolves and lsu fans want 1990s football.

Then why didn’t he replace Levi Lewis?

You are about to find out how far down the list Napier actually is.

It's not like Napier is a bad X's and O's coach. He's just not elite at it and would probably stall at a ~Kentucky type program if he wasn't so damn good off the field. The same can be said of everybody who can plausibly leave that's not named Dave Aranda or Lane Kiffin. I've been very anti Kiffin this entire search, but if we're actually considering Bill O fricking Brien or Mark Stoops just give him the keys. I still think it's a worse decision than either Campbell, Napier, or Aranda, but for the love of god don't hire BOB or Stoops.

so a factor is napier’s family uprooting to florida but he will take the LSU job? is he going to live in lafayette and commute to baton rouge?

I keep saying, what if Georgia had the “he hasn’t coached power 5 level”. Hell, Kirby had never even been a head coach! Working out pretty well for them!! Napier’s trajectory is up. He will do great wherever he goes. You have to put ego aside at times!
Posted on 11/28/21 at 11:37 am to Txtiger90
Terrible analogy. You would have been hard pressed to find a worse example of your point.
