Horrible idea. You are at the mercy of being sure you hire 3 people that excel at their positions when you do this, HC, OC, and DC.
I mean, I agree, but I bet Tucker would at least interview people before he hired them.

Saban wasn’t a great hire at the time. He had an average record at a mid-level Big 10 school. They hired him based on potential. Even though his record didn’t show it at the time, he was well thought of in coaching circles.
This isn't true, Saban was getting legitimate NFL interest while at Michigan St. The Giants and Bears both had him as a finalist for openings.
Tucker does not have the same respect as a defensive mastermind as Nick did then.

You don't pay Org 17 mill to go away so that you can hire Mel Tucker
God I hope you're right

My mistake on saying he left mid-season. Here's a link to an article indicating how he left the Vols.
LINK
Quote from Asst. Coach Ryan Bolinger:
Bolinger said Kiffin’s departure from Tennessee to USC happened quickly.
“It happened all of a sudden,” Bolinger told Vols Wire. “Lane did not come to the convention until that morning for the coaches meeting and flew back that day. There was an SEC coaches meeting. That night when he got back to Knoxville is when all of that happened. I saw him one second and the next thing you know, bam.”
You admit he was fired twice. He also "departed" from Alabama before the title game.
So, are my facts straight now? That sounds irresponsible and suggests instability.

Yes, I just dont view getting fired as instability because he didnt leave by his choice, coaches get fired all the time
one job he was not ready for at all and it was the Al Davis Raiders, dumpster fire, and the other you could argue he was fired too soon with extreme sanctions and he still had a winning record.
Sorry, I dont view that as instability on his part.

He was told to go ahead and leave by Saban because he accepted the HC job at FAU and he didnt want the distraction. I am sure there is more to it than that but who knows. In any case, he didnt just disappear, it was mutually agreed upon and announced.
None of this is really different than many other coaches out there. I have no problem with people criticizing Kiffin, he deserves some of it, I just wish people would stop making shite up to do it and call it what it really is...they dont like him cause he is cocky as frick.

How would you feel about Saban if AtM dropped 41 on him?…oh wait…
Saban can afford a loss. And 40 is nowhere near 70.
