Not because he’s my top pick, but because he seems most realistic to me. I think he wants to be in the South, is hungry for success, and is trending upward. I’ll be fine if it’s him, and I honestly believe that just about any competent coach can win at LSU. If O and Les won here, just imagine what a hungry capable coach will do!

I think Tucker would kill at LSU, especially with good coordinators

If you're money is on Tucker then make a wager and then show us the ticket.

You don't pay Org 17 mill to go away so that you can hire Mel Tucker

I'm going to be the biggest Michigan State fan the rest of the regular season into the Big Ten title game if the signals are that it's him, we CANNOT miss on this hire FINALLY a legit coaching search with a WAYYYY more competent AD

Ogre was a terrible lower 3rd tier so maybe Tucker could make it but not even on Tier 2 level

Horrible idea. You are at the mercy of being sure you hire 3 people that excel at their positions when you do this, HC, OC, and DC.

If you hire a HC that excels on one side of the ball, you in essence fill 2 spots with one hire. Thus, you only need to find the one missing piece.

One of the reasons that Saban has had consistency is he has the defensive side covered and is not reliant on finding the next great DC. He actually produces them.

We need a coach that as been a OC or DC and excelled and then has shown he can lead a program, preferably for several years. O just showed us one year of success doesn’t mean crap.

How will you feel about Tucker if Ohio State drops 70 on him?

Still cool with it and just blame it on lack of talent vs OSU?

You’re money may be on Tucker, but I guarantee the boosters money won’t be. The new President at LSU can be as work as he wants, he doesn’t have the capital to pay the bill.

Are you talking this year where they have played inferior talent to LSU’s schedule and are just as bad?

Or last year, where the results were the same?

Or maybe at Colorado, nope still below average.

Ahh, GA, that’s it. Wait, that goes back to my post about Saban and his defenses, only this time the defensive mind is Kirby Smart.

Sorry, Tucker is not elite on the defensive side of the ball. Otherwise we would see this years MSU team in the top 25% of defenses, especially against the week teams they have played.

William Tate is the president of the LSU system, not just the chancellor of the Baton Rouge campus. However, I'm sure John Bel Edwards is lobbying for Mel, too; he brought us Orgeron. Scott Woodward should tender his resignation if Tucker is hired over his objections.
