If Frank Wilson can help lock down Louisiana talent, he is worth whatever we pay him. Les has to have vastly superior talent to beat bad teams by a FG at the end of regulation. If he doesn't have this talent, we are toast.

Frank Wilson is way more important than Crowton at this point. Pay him.

I nominate this for post of the year. Succinct, eloquent and, most importantly, absolutely spot-on analysis.

2 losses this season, wow,

Your reading comprehension is terrible. I'm not saying we didn't barely win games all season. But, could you imagine the record if we DIDN'T have vastly superior talent to almost everyone we played?

What's crazy is that the two teams with comparable or better talent (Alabama and Florida), were some of the best games of the year from a coaching perspective. I wish we could have the same intensity for the other games.

My point is just that if Miles does not have the best talent, we lose way more than 2 games this year. But, I've come to accept that as part of Miles' approach. Recruit great, coach poorly. So, someone like Frank Wilson is absolutely necessary.

I wonder if Frank would really want to walk into a situation where some transition would occur.

This would be bad. VERY bad. He's basically the only member of the staff who is recruiting worth a shite.

Frank Wilson is worth every penny he makes at LSU. Pay him and keep him on the staff for a long long time.

Frank is going no where. This job was one of his goals from the start. He isn't going to uproot his family for the 3rd consecutive year for a lateral job. We'll match anything UF offers.

Did someone just say if we did not have the talent we have, we would of lost more games? What about Texas, Florida, Alabama, USC, Georgia, Oklahoma. What if they had even less talent? Dumbest post of the year.

Miles probably did his best coaching job of the year, considering what he had to work with at qb.

Give Wilson money and the title of Associate Head Coach, but never OC. He is a good position coach, a great recruiter, but not an X's and O's guy. He got OP Walker under control and to the title game, with discipline and athletes making plays, not his offensive knowledge.

No link, but Gator boards saying Muschamp is going after Frank the Tank as one of his assistants

I highly doubt this. Florida has national appeal and there is a ton of talent in state. Florida just nneds to get more than it's fair share of FL talent and steal some 4* and 5* talent from around the rest of the country. Wilson's strength is in LA. Taking Wilson would hurt LSU but not necessarily help UF all that much.

Florida: We are told that Muschamp is trying to put together a "pretty serious" coaching staff. Our source tells us Muschamp still has decisions to make, but that he considering LSU running backs coach / recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson, Buffalo Bills linebackers coach Giff Smith, FIU defensive coordinator Geoff Collins, Oklahoma State wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer, former Memphis head coach Tommy West, and Texas running backs coach Major Applewhite. Our source tells us that it's a matter of mixing & matching and that Muschamp isn't short on people trying to get on his staff. We were told, "He has 14 he wants to hire, at least, but you only get 9."

I don't think Frank will leave, but Wilson knows Louisiana and has some pretty serious inroads in the state. Muschamp knows Louisiana talent first hand... so he may see Wilson as a way to get in on some of those guys.

Take our good ones and leave us with the crap like Crowton and Stud ... would make for a pleasant offseason.

Send him Crowton and Stud and leave Frank alone - throw in Gonzalez if needed to make the deal work

I dont understand what makes Wilson such a hot commodity for a school like Florida. He's an OK coach, but recruiting is his calling card. Specifically recruiting LA.

He belongs in LA.

He is just "another coach" at just about any other school.

He proved in his year at Tenn and few years at Ole Miss that he really cant have much of an impact recruiting LA, unless he is at LSU. So I dont really know his value at a place like FL.

I remember when LSU signed Wilson, plenty of people were wary of him because he hadnt landed many big name guys under his recruiting profiles at these schools. People that liked Wilson and knew his connects in LA told these people about the impact he will have in this state. He has proved to be valuable in LA, but again, he never really was some ace recruiter at other schools(according to these people that did some research).

just something to think about

i was one of those people les, and i agree with you 100%

he's good in LA and he'll be able to get top guys from OP walker wehrever he's at, but other than that...? (i mean for a non-LSU school)
