Mullen has agreed to terms on a new contract with State

however the deal will not be signed until after the bowl game. There has been an offer sent from Florida but Mullen has expressed interest in staying at MSU if certain conditions are met. These include big money for himself and his assistants. Mullen will make around 3 mil per year. He also said he would sign a 6-8 year deal if several things were done. Some of the things he wanted include an indoor facility and other facility improvements. He also wanted guaranteed money in contracts for he and his assistants.
And before you ask i don't have a link.
The contract would have been done last week, except for some language in the by laws of the foundation where the money is to come from. That had to be worked around.
Now that is just what I have been told. Plenty of time to change his mind or use it for leverage if you ask me.

If that happens, State is suddenly legit. There's a lot of talent in Mississippi and State has struggled to get its share. With an improvement in facilities, a respected coach, and commitment from the university, State could be a contender. Their fans are hungry and passionate.
I think that Mullen is making a good move. Cam proved that one player can change everything. I think Mullen knows this.

This is actually a pretty smart move on his part if this is true and he goes through with it. I have always felt that with the right people in place that you could win at Miss State. It's a small college town and has a nice small home town type of feel to it, the pressure wouldn't be stupid and unrealistic like it is at most schools and he could become a legend there with sustained success over time. They have more than good enough facilities right now to be competitive and have given themselves a chance to be successful now it's just about the process and building it one year at a time in Starkville. Miss State fans for the most part are very nice and gracious fans and they just want a solid program to root for. I really don't think it's that bad of a job as most on here have made it out to be. Miss State has underachieved for quiet a while.

That is what I was asking. Seemed at first like he was making demands that he knew MSU could not meet. Then he would be free to take another job and use that as the reason. If they have indeed given that to him, now they just have to go out and twist some arms.
He also said he could dominate the State of MS with these improvements. Sounds good to me.

They have been improving facilities for the last several years at Miss St. In the last few years they have built a new academic center for atheltes, hall of fame, football operations building, and new score board and cosmetic stuff to the Football Stadium.

State's underachieved if by that you mean they've been horrible, but their ceiling isn't high. Boring small country town, small stadium, and fighting for not much overall talent w/ OM.

The State of Mississippi is one of the top handful of states in America for producing talent and has also been #1 in producing talent to the NFL per capita. There is not a talent shortage in Mississippi nor will there ever be. I disagree with you and think that State's ceiling for success is a lot higher than you think it is.
