This is the case. I follow espn on Facebook and when they broke the story of O's hiring the comments were 95% in favor of the hiring, and you could tell none of these people were LSU fans or really hardcore college football fans at all.

I'm sure those same people would have approved of hiring Hal Hunter over Saban..most of them can't see the forest because there are too many trees in the way

I would say it's the exact opposite. Most can't remember mike archer, curly hillman, gerry dinardo...they think LSU has always been good so surely with the amazing talent we have we can't be bad...

WRONG

Been a fan since the early 90s when I started watching football. Hate the hire (not the man), and Alleva should roast for it.

Been an LSU Football fan for nearly 50 years. This is the worst head coaching hire I have ever seen...in any sport.

I love Orgeron as a DL coach, recruiter, and motivator. LSU could have had all of those benefits by keeping him as a highly paid DL coach/recruiting coordinator.

LSU football has been devalued by our administration by hiring the least qualified candidate that has ever been hired by a top tier school. Amazing.

False.

Being old enough to remember the dumpster fire that was the 90s makes you understand how terrible the lack of vetting and resulting hiring of Orgeron were for the future of LSU.

WRONG

Exactly

All the numbnuts who ran around thinking LSU really couldn't be bad again are the ones who are making recruiting arguments instead of coaching arguments.

It doesn't work unless you have a real coach.

False, and I lived through Arnsparger, Archer, Hallman, Dinardo etc.

Everyone I know who likes the hire has continually bad hot take sports opinions, and/or doesn't care about football. They care in the sense that they'll buy purple and gold shirts and post FB pictures when they go to a game, but if we lose they couldn't care less.

The people who know sports and are avid lsu fans are "wait and see" at best.

False.

Started going to games with my dad during the tail end of the Hallman era.

Hate the hire...or should I say promotion? Orgeron's history counts for something.

I'm 53 and have been all LSU my entire life. Well when old enough to know what football was all about. I like Coach Orgeron and think he will be successful.

All of the whining about his hiring from those whining is pointless. He is our coach and everyone needs to get behind him. One Team one heart beat. Give the man a chance.

Fisher who I think quite frankly sucked as an OC while here didn't want us. Herman who hasn't proved himself to me didn't want us. And there wasn't anything else out there that intrigued me.

I like Orgeron's style. The only bad game we had with him was the Florida game and I don't blame him for the player messing up. Nothing against the player messing up either. shite happens. We lost, we move on.

Me: Alumnus 2009, Lifelong LSU fan. Went ride or die through the era's of Archer, Hallman, DiNardo, etc.

I felt like we should have searched more and had a back plan other than the D-Line coach. There are plenty of mid major, offensive-minded coaches that would jump ship for LSU. I thought we should have gambled on youth and went with PJ Fleck, tbh. He would have come for the same orgeron salary too.

Yeah, five wins over shitty to poor teams and two defeats where we scored a whopping ten points really excites me.

But O has? Your reasoning escapes me, but glad you happy with the cluster.
