Aranda. I still don’t get all of the Napier love. He’s a seemingly good coach who may be great someday. But to pretend that what he’s doing at ULL is just so unbelievably impressive and doesn’t compare to anything other that what Saban is doing/has done at Bama is moronic.

Aranda for sure.

Hell, Napier is making $2M/year. He's the highest-paid coach in the non-BCS conferences. ULL is spending a shitload on FB and I'm not sure if he's won an outright championship yet.

I love Aranda but he needs a good offensive coordinator to succeed in the SEC, Napier already is that guy.

Napier has never shown to be an elite OC dude wtf.

Napier is a recruiter and "program builder" like O. He's not some savant on one side of the ball.

Exactly. People are trying to make him out to be Urban Meyer in 2004 when he (1) went undefeated and (2) won a BCS bowl.

ULL has never gone undefeated under Napier. Hell, I don't think they've won their conference. And they're out-spending their competition handily.

Is this even a question? It’s Aranda and it’s not even remotely close.

What could he buy for the program in a couple years that makes you go undefeated?

He's out-spending everyone in the Fun Belt and is getting better recruits and still can't win it all.

Napier probably wouldn't fail here but he screams Les Miles who sounds intelligent. He just lacks the actual coaching chops. He'd have to take a hell of a haircut on salary at LSU so we can repeat the O model of overpaying elite coordinators to do the actual coaching.

These are my two big hang ups with the Napier hype.

First, and most obvious, is that while UL is winning a lot of games, they just don’t jump off the screen dominating opponents in the Sun Belt.

Second, all you hear about him is Process (won’t get into the obvious Saban chasing going on here). Recruit well and play sound disciplined football. Ok, that sounds great, but you’re right, it’s Les 2.0.

And if he really is such a great recruiter, and his Process really is so great, then that takes us back to #1, and why the hell aren’t they dominating in a conference that they absolutely should be if those two attributes are indeed what his supporters say they are??

The Sun Belt is absolutely capable of being owned by a supposed next great HC, and I just don’t see that happening at UL. This isn’t a Meyer or Petersen situation that justifies a leap from UL to LSU imo.

This is just a strange phenomenon that has taken hold imo, and it sucks because there will absolutely be a large segment of the fan base that will never accept this hire, the same state of division we’ve been in since 2008, if not before.

That doesn’t seem like a Woodward move imo. He may not get his white whale, but I just don’t see him making a hire that won’t at least have the vast majority of the fanbase excited.

Aranda. Not impressed by Napier really, has a pretty boring and bland offense that would get thrashed in the SEC.

ULL has out-recruited their conference the past 4 or 5 years straight, so they should be the favorites. They are constantly beating inferior teams. At least from a talent standpoint. That's what you would want from your HC, but we are comparing actual seasons, right?

Not really true. The Sun Belt is basically equal talent from #1 through #10. There is a bigger roster difference between the top-3 in the SEC than there is between the #1 SBC team and the lowest rated.

If you use the 247 talent composite, the Cajuns aren’t the most talented team in their own conference. Even so, the entire league is all very close in overall score, number of 4-stars, etc.

I don't care if he's at a non-BCS conferences or, specifically, ULL. I do care about the scaled output at that level.

The same can be said about Riley. This is his 5th year. He took over a program in the top 5. He is having the same issues he had when he took over. He wins close against teams that he clearly has a talent advantage over. He loses against top teams outside the Big 12. Just look at his losses and his wins by point spread. I like Riley and think he is a great option, but if we can't be objective about whoever the candidate is then wth.

Aranda is probably the best X's and O's guy. The recruiting thing keeps getting mentioned, if its true that he is a weak recruiter then if he fails the next coach will have to completely rebuild the program. This is why you interview him to understand his recruiting plan.

How many years with Riley as HC has OU not won their conference?

?

Baylor’s offense averages more yards than OU, Georgia and Napier’s ULL.

Whether his offense is that great is the bigger question to me. I hope his offense isn't based on having his current qb type.

Spending money for 2 years on weight rooms isn't like he's the Yankees buying players against the low budget royals. None of that shite is going to show up dramatically on the field expecially in such a short term. Teams like Arkansas State have nicer facilities than Lafayette.
