Fact. All of these negotiations take place behind the scenes. Neither Miles nor Michigan has anything to gain by a face to face meeting unless it's to sign the contract. In fact, if Michigan were to meet Miles and not hire him, they end up with that spurned egg on their face look that Miami had in their coaching search and they lose bargaining power to the next coach in waiting as they start looking desperate.

Miles, by meeting Michigan face to face is prepared to leave LSU at that meeting. only a colossal frick up by Michigan (not out of the question) can stop Miles from leaving.

Miles has a resume and pedigree that doesn't require an interview. If his agent is worth spit, then all the i's and all the t's will be dotted and crossed and all that'll be needed is an ink pen.

Miles meeting with Michigan doesn't hurt him as coach of the LSU if he decides to stay here. Everyone understands him at least speaking with them.

Good Points...
Miles may just want the satisfaction of looking them in the eye and telling them to GFY.

Really? Because all the bullshite you just typed looked like "opinion." Please google the two words and you'll find that they are COMPLETELY different.

(fwiw, I don't know what the man is doing but I despise when people "know" what is going on when in reality, it's just a simple fan's, that has no connection whatsoever, OPINION.)

I completely agree. Michigan is going to him and he feels wanted and we all know the man has the WANT in him.

Bye Les

Keep in mind that the "meeting" is at a venue where every other potential candidate, known and unknown, will be present (the AFCA meeting). There may or may not be more there than meets the eye.

I think everyone understands him speaking with them. I'm just saying, there are phones and video conferencing for that, and he has an agent. No reason to meet except to put ink to paper.

Agreed. He would come out and squash all of the Michigan talk before interviewing.

People may say he's interviewing out of respect for his alma mater, but truthfully, the most respectful thing to do would be to issue a statement professing his love for UM but claim he loves LSU and what he has going. Then, UM could continue to Plan C.

If he meets face to face with Michigan, he's gone.

This.

I have a hard time believing that talks between at least Michigan and Miles agent haven't been taking place since at least Saturday. I can't see Tuesday being a "Hi Les, have you heard we have a HC position available?" sort of thing.

They are either meeting Tuesday to hammer stuff out that either side won't budge on, or he's signing on the dotted line. Maybe he'll surprise us all and really tell Michigan to go f ourselves, but at this point, I don't think thats the case.

And waste his best chance since 2007 to upgrade his contract? I would lose respect for him if he didn't take advantage of a rare opportunity to do this (and perhaps derive a bit of personal satisfaction in the bargain, finally getting past the "he isn't Saban" attitudes that, disguised as other complaints, have dogged him for 6 years).

Just change it to a "Miles is leaving" party. More people will attend.
