I don't think he's going anywhere.
I think he loves being here so much, he may think he'll be leaving LSU in a bad spot.
You guys brought up memphis. One of his posts that I read was that he called Michigan last week to tell them he wasnt interested was straight from the AD's office and to get that out to the public.
At the same time, that could be to throw off the scent.
....and yes, I'd be willing to bet that this recruiting class would fall apart of Miles left. Not a good time to be losing a head coach. Regardless of what most Rantards think, he's not a terrible coach.
BUT, if he does go.......I'm on the Hoke train.

I was starting to believe some of it until I saw that. I might as well been reading the rant. How can you take that seriously?

just seeing this thread, anybody got any golden lead scoops yet?
Posted on 1/4/11 at 9:41 pm to Prominentwon
just for the record, their mod didnt say that another poster did.
and stlsu, only thing we have is blackdream71, the um scout mod saying that LM is being contacted behind the scenes and if that falls through RR will be held on, but will be forced to make wholesale changes to the defense. that was at 8 so who the hell knows whats going on now.

Things I have learned in past coaching searches (not just LSU's past searches):
1. Just because someone is a mod on a pay site does not mean they have legit sources. The history of the mod/poster is the best indicator of their status as someone with 'inside' info. Some mods are idiots. Some 'regular' posters are goldmines of legit info. History is key in these kind of cases.
2. Sometimes potential hires ARE contacted through 'back' channels/behind the scenes. Quite often, those contacting potential hires are boosters with no official authority from the hiring Uni/College's PTB to make such contact (not even wink-wink, nudge-nudge off-the-record let's-put-feelers-out authority)...sometimes, boosters with $$$ and no official authority have a desire to influence a hire, and will make 'behind the scenes' contact with a potential hire in hopes that they can influence the process.
I mean, Leach was going to coach at Maryland, right? And Mullen was going to...was it Florida? And Malzan (spelling?) to Vanderbilt and then to Maryland? Gruden's going everywhere? CUM's quit UF because of health reasons and he's already been offered a currently-taken tOSU job?
Right.
I think I'm going to get another beer...I think I'll need a few of them this week.

IS THIS THE THREAD I'M SUPPOSED TO STAY OUT OF????
Posted on 1/4/11 at 9:43 pm to lsu777
and prom I agree but i think if frank wilson is held over on the new staff, we move quick, and we make a splash hire then we will hold onto most of the LA kids and will be ok.
not on the HOKE train though, think he is a good coach but he would be a little down the list for me personally, but Im a swing for the fences and make them tell you no kind of guy.

while I'm generally willing to making the positive argument for keeping Miles, this is about the same as saying I called Jennifer Anniston today to let her know that I'm not interested in banging her tonight...then I told my assistant to let everyone know.

ok I guess its not over with Miles/UM.

hence the "throwing off the scent" comment.

Miles leaves, I will live and LSU will hire a great coach. (maybe all sooner than later)
Posted on 1/4/11 at 9:49 pm to Prominentwon
and if i remember right I thought memphis said that he was quoting that from another site? could be wrong though.
and yea its exciting to think of the possibilities but if things could end badly for us.
most thought RR at UM was a sure thing and look how that worked out for them.

I've been following this guy, @GSwaim on twitter. He's a sportscaster out of Oklahoma City who is super confident in his sources in the Michigan media and he's saying that Miles is headed to Michigan. I started a post earlier with his tweets and it got whacked.
@bobiafra Be careful what you wish for. Les Miles is coming, and he's never lost to the #Buckeyes.

He's so confident, he's calling out other people on it.
