Miami making its move for Harbaugh

Desparation. This will cause Jed to bump things up. He can't let the fanbase down after all that's transpired. It would ruin any chance of a stadium.
After saying that money was no object in hiring a new HC, losing Harbaugh along $ lines would effectively destroy any credibility he has in most future dealings. He will be found in a dumpster in Chinatown if he fails this.
I don't think he'd frick that opportunity up when push comes to shove.
Miami doesn't even have a HC vacancy and they're throwing money before a minority candidate even has a chance to interview for a position that as of today isn't vacant. Don't know if the NFL is going to be happy with that.

Didn't Miami just do this with another big name college coach about five years ago. What was that guys name who picked Daunte Culpepper over Drew Brees?

Ironically, the Miami owner (who is throwing all of the $$ at Harbaugh) is a Michigan grad. Needless to say, my Michigan buddy is bitter that the Dolphins "Michigan man" is c*#k-blocking his alma mater.

why does everyone assume JH will be a great coach in the NFL?
He had the number 1 pick in the NFL draft at a key position, and an NFL DC dialing up blizes for his defense and he played in a weak conference.
Saban did a lot more as did spurrier and neither turned out to be good NFL coaches.

Harbaugh and his agent are using the dolphins to get more money from SF. SF is clearly his top choice and the stupid dolphins just upped his value. Fools

There was a link to a post on ESPN tonight which basically indicated SF doesnt have deep pockets.
As for the person claiming Michigan fans will be mad at Ross I disagree. According to article he phoned to make sure we werent in hunt before making move.
To top it off he just recently gave 100M to the University. I would say that keeps him in good graces.

That's the beauty of his plan, since there's no vacancy, there's no need to talk to no black folks about it.
BTW I'm gonna be pro-Josh McDaniels trolling on the official MB (although I do think he'd be a good choice anyway).

They didn't have the recruiting restrictions or take over a 1 win team. Actually Saban did in the pros.
I'd argue that Saban actually did a decent job with the Phins.

They do have deep pockets, and the first thing York proclaimed after firing Singletary was that with respect to the new HC "money is no object".
The NFL.com report (and others) regarding the Niners offering $5m per for 5 implied that they were on the cusp. This is a major curveball, but will probably result in Jed throwing in another million-million and a half.
Money isn't an object, but the ownership isn't going to just up and match Miami monetarily when they have a leg up in just about practically every other aspect. Let's not forget that Baalke destroyed the Crabtree camp in his contract negotiation. He couldn't set a bad precedent of throwing money at him, and the long-term interests of the team are probably not best served by going dollar for dollar with this insanity and desperation that Miami is pulling. They'll meet in the middle. It's too important to the future of the Niners, as hardheaded as Jed is he knows he can't fail this one.

No, Saban actually didn't want Brees, SFP. He tried to use the possibility of signing Brees to leverage Culpepper. Didn't work.
Brees lays it all out in his book, FYI.
