you think the Riley and Kelly hire sent shockwaves? Mario to Miami would be an earthquake. Not from an oh, Miami is a instant contender, but from a WTF just happened POV. Only thing that could be bigger is if Saban decides to retire.

Been the thought for a while.

Try Cristobal first, then Kiffin if he says no.

Better yet try Kendall Briles! If Miami smart he will be a homerun hire!

How the hell can Manny recruit with that out there?

No shite. Clay Helton was almost fired like 3 times, but somehow kept his job, and then people complained about his recruiting classes sucking.

Diaz may not be a good coach, but why double-frick him like this if keeping him is still an option? Get a handle on your leaks, or just fire the poor guy.

I don't get the love for Cristobal. The guy gets plenty of talent but it's not showing on the field.

He just got is dick knocked in the dirt twice by a Utah team that recruits in the 40's.

Recruiting and coaching are two different things and apparently he can only do one.

I will forever associate Cristobal with his work at FIU.

I think he would fail badly at The U

He wasn't a failure at FIU. He took over a program that just joined launched 2 years prior. They were winless before he arrived. He got them to 2 bowl games and was one of the hottest coaching candidates around.

Then he had one down year where they lost a bunch of close games. People were shocked that FIU would fire him. FIU returned to dumpster fire status for the next 4 years until Butch Davis briefly got them back on track.

Coach O did worse. Inherited an Ole Miss squad that had 5 winning seasons in 6 years under Cutcliffe. Never one had fewer than 3 conference wins. Then O took over. He had 3 conference wins total in 3 years.

Cristobol's success at Miami (once it's official) will likely be more on the recruiting side. That's how they were relevant in the 80s/90s/early 2000s.

If Cristobal is smart, he stays put in Eugene.

Yep. The U will never be back and will be quicksand for anyone who thinks they're the savior.

I'll go on record as saying this would be a great hire for Miami and all they need is the right coach to become a power again.

They tried to shovel dirt on Miami twice already, before Schnellenberger and before Butch Davis. It's never been about facilities there. All that program needs is a talented recruiter who will put in the leg work and rope off southern FL.
