Here are the main donors. Don't forget that Tucker is 2-0 versus Michigan and if it's someone else's money then MSU got a good deal.

"Alumni Mat Ishbia and Steve St. Andre will donate the private funding to the university for Tucker’s raise reworked contract, according to "Inside the Locker Room" podcast hosts Brian Mosallam, a former MSU Board of Trustee member, and MSU radio analyst Jason Strayhorn. University sources confirmed Ishbia and St. Andre as the donors for the new contract."

What the hell?

So much for needing championships to get Saban or Dabo money.

They are paying $95 million to a man who has literally had one winning season as a head coach. One. Insane.

I like his potential because I think he's done a phenomenal job this year based on the past few years of what MSU has looked like.

That being said they're paying a guy with only one winning season money that I would think you need to make the playoffs at least every other year to be worth. I am extremely skeptical he can do that.

I see this remark a lot...you all do realize he took over terrible rosters at CU and MSU, right? 9-1 and playing for a B10 championship ain't too damn bad in year 2.

Also, he's already expanded MSU's recruiting footprint and pulling kids in-state who everyone thought were UM locks a year ago.

Ain't saying he's worth this amount of money, but criticizing him for his W-L record when he had one year with a bad CU roster and even worse inheritance at MSU is silly.

Man, that number is a product of the CFB landscape right now. Hell of a reaction to the current job openings. Good on Michigan State for keeping Mel Tucker, but that is too much money.

MSU is preparing a historic $95 million, 10-year contract extension for Tucker to remain with the Spartans

Well, I hope this doesn’t give Oklahoma the courage to match the big money off from LSU.

Actually Mat Ishbia is bankrolling athletics right now. He's a young billionaire Chairman and CEO of United Wholesale Mortgage and a former walk on to the MSU basketball team.

This is a laughably bad analysis. Too superficial to even respond to. Here is an actual history of Tucker's numerous mediocrities and blunders:

P.S. What the frick are you referring to when you say he is playing for a Big Ten championship? He is going to get sodomized by OSU and won't even win his division.

Michigan State has completely lost it if they’re paying him that based on one good season. Hey, I hope it works out for them, but that’s pure fricking insanity.

Tucker was squarely on LSU's radar and other schools were going to be sniffing around soon as well. You don't pay a coach solely on what he's already done. If you do that you lose them. You pay them partly on projection for where they're going. What had Saban done before LSU hired him? 34-24-1 (.586) and blown out in 3 fleabag bowl games (including 1 to DeNardo's LSU). But it was a good move because he was going places and LSU identified that. MSU learned it's lesson and Tucker is going places as well and is willing to go all in to make sure he sticks around. It's a risk, but a good risk.
