Related to Byron? If so that would be intriguing.

I’m guessing no but maybe Mack is adopted

I’ve been saying this.. the big fish hires are a less than 50/50 gamble. Why not go with a potential longevity hire for just as much risk

That’s legendary to do that with Finley and Scott

Younger guy gonna be hungrier as well. Look at all the top teams they all went with assistants.

I actually really want to see this.

Give me a younger guy that’s hungry.

What about Elko for example? We need someone who has brought success at a school that has never had any in football

big time head coach is always less risky

But also less upside and costs more. There aren't any big time head coaches that haven't already shown their full potential to be less than the LSU standard, except for those that are unattainable such as Kirby. Kiffin will cost more than probably anyone else this cycle and I really don't think he's worth it when you can find a coordinator and spend the savings on your roster.

Kelvin Shepherd. Lions DC in the NFL, played here, played in the NFL, is considered a rising star. Understands the standards we expect and LSU expects.

Other than him being an alum, why would anyone leave the NFL to deal with all the bullshite that comes with being a college coach?

This isn't on the job f'ing training. There are coaches out there who are young , successful , intelligent , understand the modern game, and don't have ego's the size of Alaska

I just posted that I'd love to go bring Shannon Dawson, Miami's OC, back home. He's a Holgerson disciple and from right up Plank Road in Clinton, LA.
