Have you seen Saban’s record at MSU as HC? 4-8 is far off from 6-5-6-6 and 7-5, 6-6.

Everybody can have an opinion but to knock mauck’s opinion cause you don’t like it is insane … like a previous poster said he imprinted his legacy on LSU and his opinion carries certainly carries a lot more weight than the opinion of some of a few td posters who bash him in a third grade style way because they want another coach

He said that he is the closest thing to Nick Saban that you are going to find on how he acts and runs his program.

This is just fricking stupid.

Only Nick is like Nick. This obsession of "he's just like Saban" is a pathetic cope.

Some of you guys are so triggered. The reason I think its Napier is the same reason I knew Ed was gone right after the Au game. There’s no reason to say because too many triggered pricks will blast it. Notice I said I think

Out of all the candidates, only 2 would be cause for concern for other coaches in the league and Napier is one of them. Said he and Tucker are by far the hardest working and best recruiters. Take it fwiw

So Napier it is then

Napier will be the next LSU coach. Spend the next several weeks actually working at your job and spend time with your family. To borrow a line from the band Survivor, the search is over.

The one year Napier was a coordinator in Colorado, he went 4-8. The next year after he left they went 8-6. I'm not sure Mauck really believes that makes him Sabanesque.

quote:

Colorado State (2012)

Prior to rejoining Alabama, Napier served as the assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach at Colorado State in 2012 for former Tide offensive coordinator Jim McElwain.

Injuries forced Napier to go deep down the bench looking for quarterbacks during his one season in Fort Collins. The Rams saw three quarterbacks play significant snaps as the starter with Garrett Grayson going down early in the season and M.J. McPeek following two weeks later, forcing redshirt freshman Conner Smith into action. The trio combined to throw for 2,520 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2012 as Colorado State won three of its final five games.

Context matters. Remember Jimbo lost his QB at FSU and shite the bed after that? He did the same this season when the aggies were supposed to be a contender.

Good ole boys in Louisiana doing all they can to make sure Napier gets the job. This is not to say I think Napier is anything but a good coach and I wouldn't mind the hire at all, but this is the type of shite I hate at LSU. It's why we end up with guys like Orgeron. I want an innovator not a second rate Saban guy. This might sound like I'm slamming him but I'm not. I just don't understand why we'd #1 a guy who tries to emulate everything Saban does instead of thinking outside the box. This is how we got into our own shite storm with Orgeron being obsessed with 2019 trying to catch that lightning again.

Also, Saban tree guys make me nervous as hell. If I was to get behind a Saban tree hire I think Napier is the guy for me. I have a hard time believing this is Woodward's #1 though or maybe even #3. I think they'd have to strike out before they gave him a call. Would be a good hire regardless, imo.

I respect Mauck's opinion. I think Napier would be a great hire, I just hope he can withstand the pressures of LSU if hired.

Serious question, how does Matt Mauck know Napier? I always see former players commenting on coaches that they have never played for. I'm always curious about why they have such strong opinions on guys that they don't know.
