Mauck wants Billy Napier as the next head coach at LSU. He said that he is the closest thing to Nick Saban that you are going to find on how he acts and runs his program. Woodward wants the next Saban and Napier sounds like that guy that Woodward wants but is it too soon to pull the trigger on him when it comes to this hire is the question. Mauck played under Saban and great friends with Woodward so he knows what he is looking for and I’m sure Mauck gave Woodward his thoughts on it.

Moscona said tonight that he had 2 coaches, one of which is an SEC Coach say that Napier would wreck shop at LSU. Out of all the candidates, only 2 would be cause for concern for other coaches in the league and Napier is one of them. Said he and Tucker are by far the hardest working and best recruiters. Take it fwiw

I value his opinion since he played under Saban and is great friends with Woodward. He knows that Woodward is looking for the next Saban (there will never be another Saban) and he thinks Napier could be that guy.

Moscona is pandering for Mel so his buddy Ryan Clark doesn’t get his feelings hurt.

Napier is the best possible choice. Not even close.

That seems absolutely ridiculous that they would only be concerned about 2 coaches.

How could a dentist in Colorado know about Napier being most like Saban?

The one year Napier was a coordinator in Colorado, he went 4-8. The next year after he left they went 8-6. I'm not sure Mauck really believes that makes him Sabanesque.

Not that my vote means shite. But I vote Napier and it’s an extremely distant for second place.

mauck made the most of his ability and even hung around the league for a little bit.

has his own dentistry practice just south of portland nowadays.

not sure how being more physically gifted would change his opinion.

Media outlets are slowly starting to warm us up to Napier. Read the writing on the wall.

I would love the hire but a lot of people will be unhappy being it’s not the big splash they are wanting.
