Joseph Duarte, who covers the Owls for the Houston Chronicle, mentioned UCF offensive coordinator Troy Walters as a name to watch for the position.

Sources have told us both Stanford coordinators (Mike Bloomgren and Lance Anderson) have a good shot at the job. We are also told LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada is seeking an interview.

At Rice, Bailiff made between $750,000 and $905,000 each of the past five seasons.

most likely would have to take a pay cut

Further, source tells FootballScoop Matt Canada no longer plans to interview for this one.

Alleva looks ever more like an incompetent imbecile.

I know it's hard to resist a promotion but rice is not a place that's easy to win for anybody. He might be regretting wanting that a year from now.

I suspect he is looking for a way out of LSU. A HC gig would be icing on the cake.

A hc job where he is gonna make half as much as he does now? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

based on how Canada likes to run from job to job, he's not gonna have any long-term success as a coach anyway. So, it doesn't really matter what HC job he takes.

Correct me if I am wrong. Ensminger is on record multiple times saying he has no interest in being the offense coordinator

It looks like YawYaw invited him to seek refuge elsewhere.

I don’t see Canada getting the Rice job over some of those other candidates anyway. The Stanford guys are more accomplished (as far as success on the field is concerned) and the UCF guy could be seen as someone with greater upside.

That makes the Orgeron suggestion about Ensminger becoming OC even more absurd, doesn't it.

I believe O was talking about the bowl game only.

Yes. Our fans are just insanely idiotic, and can't read between the lines Steve would just call the bowl game.

Why didn't he say that then? He was so forth coming on Canada possibly seeking other employment, why be cryptic about that?

Also in regards to Ensminger not wanting the job, is it not possible for someone to change their mind? I know I have changed my mind about career decisions before

Even as lowly as I think about the Orgeron hire, I have to give him at least an ounce of credit in saying even O knows that Ensminger is not LSU OC caliber at this point. In giving him even just a smidge of credit, you have to acknowledge that even Ed Orgeron knows he can'y surround himself with Ensminger and fulfill this "I am just going to recruit and cheer and my coordinators carry the load" game plan

Neighbor here in NC is a BIG NCSU alum. Pretty much said the same thing when we hired Canada. He said don't expect to hold onto him too long...

You want to go, then go. Vital for CEO to make the right hire for his replacement, and keep the OFF moving in the right direction. NO steps backwards, keep moving forward.
