so insecure that you’re completely unwilling to consider a single very slightly negative aspect of a candidate.
But the numbers and information at hand doesn’t back up your conclusion.
And you’re still haven’t provided a link.
It’s Aranda that is rumored to be the one that doesn’t really like recruiting. Not Campbell.

This will get downvoted because people don’t want to hear anything negative about matt campbell, but it is definitely easier to recruit DL to come play in an even front than it is to come play in and odd front
That gets flipped around just as easily. Linebackers don't want to play in 4 man fronts because they're going to be asked to do much simpler jobs than they will in the NFL and don't get nearly as many opportunities to make plays. I also don't really buy that argument. In traditional 4 man fronts there's a whopping one guy who gets to hard pass rush most downs. DTs are already mostly eating blocks, and I doubt we'd have much issue convincing a 4-3 DE to play a Chaisson role if we ever find ourselves in that situation. The most popular player in the country at the moment is a nose tackle. The best nose tackle we've seen in at least a decade, sure, but still a nose tackle.
And in general 4 man fronts are just worse schematically than 3 man fronts. Linebackers are just so much more flexible than lineman, and that's especially important in 2021 where most plays aren't locked into being a pass or a run until a ~second after the ball is snapped. The "5" part of the defense is definitely more important than the "3" or "4" in the modern landscape, but in a vacuum I'm definitely picking 3.

I dont understand the infatuation. Aside from going 9-3 in a Covid season, what has he accomplished worth talking about
Tell you you don’t watch college football without telling me you don’t watch college football.
Campbell’s name isn’t just being thrown around for shites and giggles. Dude would wreck shop at LSU. As a State fan, I hope y’all keep passing on him and the Napier’s of the world out of pure arrogance.

Harsin is a very good hire. And will be a very good coach in this conference.

which side of the ball is Matt Cambell known for?

Thank you for posting an actual quote and link about Campbell's recruiting.
Just about everything I've read about him indicates he really likes recruiting. I'm not sure where the narrative that he doesn't like to recruit came from.
Obviously there not going to get any 5 star guys and very few, if any, 4 stars, so it makes sense he doesn't waste much time and resources on guys he's got zero chance at landing.

He was an all-American DL at Mount Union as a player, but an OL coach, and an OC before he became a HC. So both.
He's not Riley on offense, or Aranda on defense, but he knows what he wants his team to do on both sides. From USA Today when he was at Toledo...
quote:
“I got a sheet of paper and wrote three words down,” he said. “Recruit, retain, develop.”
And the results are showing this year, largely with a group of seniors and juniors he recruited early on from a prototype he identified for what players at every position on the field should look like physically and mentally.
“We dissected it and said, ‘This is what we want,’ ” Campbell said. “And then we didn’t miss very often.”
