He turned a complete trash program that was a bad as Kansas when he got their into a very respectable team who gets the most out of his players. If LSU hires Campbell they need to surround him with assistants that can recruit because Campbell can definitely do the coaching part.

How do we know he can’t recruit? Does Iowa have the same in state talent as LSU? Is ISU an easy place to recruit to?

Our last 2 coaches have been recruiters and sucked as developers and human beings. I’m ok with a change to a competent person who speaks English.

Dan Mullen should be a warning for all major programs. You can’t simply tolerate recruiting. down here. You have to have a passion for it. I don’t think Campbell is ready to chase around 5 stars.

Realistically he'd also need to move on from the 3-3-5 defense

3-3-5 or 4-2-5? What's the difference, they can both work

Hiring Matt Campbell would feel so much like the Auburn/Bryan Harsin hire. Settling after striking out on your top targets.

That's what strong Cordinators and assistants are for.

They lay the ground work for recruiting.

His defense shut down OU’s passing attack on Saturday

I’m curious as to what you guys expect at Iowa St. last year it wasn’t a great class…I’m sure COVID had a little to do with it.

This year, he’s bringing a top 25 class to Ames, IA to play football. 3rd best class in the Big XII. IMO, this along with being the Big XII Coach of the Year 2x at Iowa St. Won the Fiesta Bowl and finished Top 10 at Iowa St

He also had Toledo a Top 25 team at one time.

How do you come up with that theory?

We're keeping Corey Raymond right?

Take a look at his all-time recruit list on 247. We'll be fine.

Personally think he’s massively overrated as a coach.

I think the media wants him to big time and he just isn’t.

From ESPN when he got the Iowa State job...
quote:

Campbell is known for his recruiting ability: Among Campbell’s core principles are the words “recruit, retain and develop,” a sign that the young coach could be a good fit in Ames, Iowa. He was named one of Rivals’ top recruiters during his time at Toledo and believes that relationships are a key part of the foundation of any program.

He's taken Iowa State from consistently a 55-65 type ranking in recruiting, to a 45-55 type ranking.

Far from a world beater, but it's also gotta be an extremely tough sell to convince kids to come to the second best school, in talent-less state, in the middle of nowhere... I'm not sure a young Saban could have recruited there before his rise. Really impossible to get a good guage of the recruiting abilities of some of these coaches at mid-low their schools.

He probably did an intensive film study. Not just his highlights either.
