Mark Hudspeth is going to be a head coach again.
After two seasons as Mississippi State's receivers coach and passing game coordinator, Hudspeth has accepted the head coaching position at UL-Lafayette, according to The Daily Advertiser. ESPN has also reported it. Hudspeth, 42, replaces Rickey Bustle, who was fired after nine seasons at the helm.
Hudspeth has not returned calls and text messages seeking comment. I've also yet to hear back from MSU coach Dan Mullen or athletics director Scott Stricklin about the matter. It's not known if Hudspeth will coach in the Gator Bowl against Michigan on Jan. 1, or if he will even be at today's practice.
Before coming to MSU, Hudspeth was a highly successful coach at North Alabama, a Division II school. The Louisville native won two Gulf South Conference titles and led the Lions to five NCAA playoff appearances in his seven-year stay in Florence. He compiled a record of 66-21.
MSU is losing a coach who has been instrumental in the development of several young receivers, including Chad Bumphis and Arceto Clark. Receiver has been a thin position for State, especially with the loss in October of senior Leon Berry (ankle), which left the Bulldogs' receiving corps with only freshmen and sophomores.
MSU ranks eighth in the SEC in pass efficiency with a rating of 134.2.

Pretty interesting selection. His bio seems to reflect sucess at various levels of coaching. Hopefully he can turn the program into a consistent competitor and maybe finally get the peppers to a bowl game.

He has had some success as a HC. That should be a big help.. Who was the HC at Nicholls in 94-95?

It's been Scott Farmer, they have to make him the permanent AD. He's done a very good job with these two hires.

i remember him from his days at Delta State (won D2 national championship in 2000). His offenses can really put up the points.
