they'd probably want to run through a wall for him.
Any coach worth a shite can do that. Kelly was just that bad.

Freeman would be a GREAT hire, wtf are you talking about?\\
and I really don't know why he would leave the easier championship route at ND for a harder route, through the SEC, at LSU, especially seeing what just happened with Kelly here...
out of all the coaches even mentioned, I think he is the absolute LEAST likely to even entertain the LSU job, honestly

A 39 year old coach who just played in National Championship who now has 4 seasons of HC experience worries you?

Yes, he walked into one of the most stable programs in the country. Literally one spot out of the playoffs. He proceeds to lose to NI and Marshall and if not for a weak schedule in 24 he doesn't sniff the playoffs. I'll give credit to the good playoff run last year. But I think almost every coach in America could have gotten that ND team into the playoffs with that schedule.

wouldn't be mad about it. But I'd love it to watch the ND fans melt and later say they never liked him anyway.
I think LSU would be just fine with Freeman. However, the best part of that potential hire is seeing ND fans melt twice in 5 year span

Some people on this board need to take a day or a few days off and live life a little. Worried about who the head coach of a football team is? There are bigger things in life to worry about.
Freeman is not leaving ND to come to LSU. He has it made at ND and can get into the CFP winning 10 games instead of the gauntlet that is the SEC where 9-3 seasons can be the norm and chance to not make the CFP.

His wife doesn’t want to live in the south. Why on earth he would leave ND for LSU is beyond me. He plays a cupcake independent schedule and has the easiest path to a 12 team playoff every year.

No he'd be worried about a guy that has lost to NI and Marshall while his only achievement is doing exactly what our previous failed head coach did which is take advantage of weak schedules to get into the playoff.
Now in year 4 he has 2 losses to two teams with a combined 2 losses, and his combined losing point total is 4. Arkansas hung with EVERY SINGLE SEC TEAM THEY PLAYED, but ND came to Arkansas and beat them by 40. ND has beaten every single team since week 3 by double digit points.
What i see is IMPROVEMENT.
ND has the #4 recruiting class in the country. Four of their top 5 players are on defense including 2 5 stars and 4 total guys in the top 45 overall.
ND has played 2 top 12 offenses including 3 in the top 21 and 4 in the top 35, and have the #18 defense.
They have a top 10 offense and are on pace IN THE REGULAR SEASON, to have a 3000 yard 26 TD passer (who is a redshirt freshman), 1300 yard rusher and 750 yard rusher.
He's young, energetic, speaks to the players on a personal level, and the dude played college ball at Ohio St. We literally tried to get him as the defensive coordinator already. Now he has 4 years of Head coaching at one the top programs in the country and went to the national championship game.
He fits literally every single criteria. He would be way more than a home run hire. It would be a bank and train and stock market heist rolled all into one if we could get him to LSU.

He might. Verge has a kid there so he’d have plenty of relationship there and first hand validation of his coaching ethic.
Verge could also work with Marcus to leverage this smoke for a pay raise for Freeman in exchange for more playing time for Jaiden. Who the hell knows.

You say that like Notre Dame hadn't lost 6 games in their previous 4 seasons under Kelly, with 3 of those losses being 2018 Clemson, 2020 Alabama, and a rematch with a 2020 Clemson that they beat earlier in the year. If the expanded playoff had been in effect, Kelly would have made it every single year from 2018-2021.
It's astronomically easier to maintain than it is to build. That doesn't mean Freeman is definitely not a good coach, but there are very rational concerns that maybe the guy losing to Northern Illinois and Marshall would not automatically succeed when he starts having to play Alabama, Florida, A&M, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, etc. every year.

2024 ranking is so high because of making the playoffs. Need to look at where they stood pre playoffs. This year they've played 2 teams worth a crap and lost to both.
He cited strength of schedule, you know, THE GAMES THAT HE ACTUALLY COACHED? I love how idiots like you will gloat about how many top 10 teams LSU beat in 2019 (even though a couple lost 4-5 games and 3 others were postseason teams), yet you have problem with given Freeman the credit?
He lost to TAMU by 1 point. How did LSU do? He lost to Miami on the road by 2 points. His starting QB was a redshirt freshman getting his first ever collegiate start. A redshirt freshman QB's first 2 starts were on the road vs an eventual top 10 ranked defense, and at home vs the current undefeated and #3 team in the country.
I love how Freeman needs to move mountains, but Lane Kiffin can have the #2 offense and #3 defense in the country, the highest paid transfer portal haul filled with highly drafted players, lose 3 regular season games with that team, and people think he's EASILY the hands down best pick. If you go by Kiffin, he has 1 win vs a team with less than 2 losses this year. He also has a loss vs the best team he played. Kiffin has beat one team that finished ranked in the top 10. Kiffin has yet to make the playoffs. Kiffin has been a HC at 5 different stops, including the NFL. Marcus Freeman is in year 4.
