Well stated! I’d add he could be more than ok with LSU’s talent.

Bo was a better dc back in the day than mason. He actually has way more skins on the wall. Mason hasn’t been a full time dc in a long while especially since the spread revolution took over.

Mason might be ok but there is no denying it’s a bo p like hire

Bo had been an FCS head coach for almost a decade. Nobody was calling him. Nobody wanted him until LSU paid him Aranda money.

Mason was an SEC head coach two months ago. He will be a P5 DC this year no matter what LSU does.

Apples to oranges.

I hope it’s Freeman, but I totally understand the circumstances surrounding Freeman which will make it a difficult get. At the moment, he is in a very good position given what his career goals are. He has lots of (all good) options.

I believe Mason was told that he's the second option and if we can't get Marcus he'll be the guy

As the dc?

He has only been in coaching a few years as an inside linebackers coach

He is a very smart guy and could be a dc in the future but it seems like he will stay in the NFL and work his way up

I've been on record as Freeman being my first choice and also saying it's going to be a tough pull

Seems like no one wants to hitch their wagon to o. He has yet to make a good hire besides Brady

That may well be.. however, doesn’t hurt to talk to him. He is in line for Saleh’s job if he leaves. The other name for that job is Raheem Morris.

He is a perfect fit. He knows defenses. He is young. Energetic. Diverse. Nobody can argue how great a job he has done with Fred Warner.

I've heard it all now! No way LSU tells him he's the second option.

"Ok Mr. Mason, thank you for coming. We feel the interview went well. We really want Marcus Freeman, but if we don't get him, we'll take you."

Mason’s defenses were just as good as BO’s with lesser talent and Mason faces more spread offenses more recently than Bo did as a DC and had better success

So facing spread offenses is how we judge coaches?

Well, he faced them alright.. and he was the worse coach against the spread.

Let’s hire him!
