One must ask, how the hell The Washington Post got the scoop before anyone out of Auburn or Nashville?

Apparently the deal is that Vanderbilt put an offer on the table that Malzahn turned down yesterday, hence the "talks have broken up" stuff that came out. But then they put a better offer on the table and Malzahn has told them he is considering it.

Nope, the situation is fluid though, the offer is being discussed.

Vandy has offered 1.3 million to Gus.

Wonder if Auburn would go high enough to match it

Seems too high.

Great move for Malzan if true. $3 m is a ton of money, expectations at Vandy are modest, and if he gets them competitive then he can pick his tier 1 job. Harbaugh proves that you can win at a private school with good academics.

Actually Vandy offered 1.4, then AU countered, they Vandy upped their offer, with incentives, to nearly 3 mil/year.

Looks like the holdup is whether or not he will get to coach the BCSNCG. Surely Vandy wouldn't let it hinge on that. He can get a staff put together, then work the CG practices and game, then join his staff after it's over.

wow. risky move by ol' Gus.

Whats so risky about it? He was coaching high school football just 5-6 years ago. Even if he's not successful at Vandy, other schools would give him a job down the road.

So we're pretty much just going to have to wait until tomorrow to figure out what Gus decides to do.
