The Post's Eric Prisbell has been told that Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn has accepted Vanderbilt's offer to become the Commodores' next football coach.

Awesome, I wanted this to happen just to see how it turns out.

Interesting. There was a post on the Vandy insider board claiming a direct link to someone involved in the negotiations saying that the talks had broken down. Sounds like that was false or things changed.
I'll also be intrigued to see how this turns out, especially in terms of recruiting and Auburn's future. Kinda surprised they were allowed to talk to Gus before the title game.
Has there every been an off-season with such upheaval?

Vandy could ruin his prospects for getting a head coaching gig at a big program in the future.

Not if they're paying him 2.5M like rumored. I would go to Wyoming if they were paying 2.5M.

All he has to do is take them bowling for two or three years. Then he'll have another fat arse contract waiting on him elsewhere.
It's not like they have SEC Title aspirations.

This reminds me of the time a news station reported that Tuberville had accepted the job offer at Texas A&M.
And the time the other news station reported Tuberville had accepted the job offer at Arkansas.
And then that time a website reported that Houston Nutt had been hired to replace Tommy Tuberville.
Is Jimmy Sexton Gus's agent?

Not that easy.

You say this like it is plausible. They have been to a bowl like once since Jesus was born.
It is risky. I think he just decided the money was worth the risk plus he will probably never be hotter than he is now. He knows Cam made his offense look great. Next year could be a disaster and then he is stuck as a OC.

Like Mullen's gig at MSU, a low pressure first HC assignment for millions. What's not to like? If he gets them to a bowl, he's a miracle worker. If he flops, well, it was Vandy where no one is expected to succeed.
