I don't buy the splash angle, but I could buy the sexton one. I just think he is trying to make a point to the NKOTB (the term kid is used very loosely here).

This is possible. College football has become a monster and it will take theatrics to keep people on their toes. It his highly likely that Bama's people have become complacent because Nick has built a well-oiled machine. This could totally be a wake up call to the new guy.

That's certainly one way to look at it. The other is that conference strength won't matter as much anymore b/c of the new 4 game playoff. i.e. You'll end up playing 2 of the best 4 teams now and will be undisputed champions should you win it all. That's the challenge. Oh yeah, and winning natty's at 3 different schools.
