Saban of course is a great defensive mind, and develops LB's and DB's better than anyone.

That shows by the incredibly talented DB's that have succeeded in the league.

The longer these clowns make a spectacle of this crap the less likely Saban will leave.

Hey it's a lot easier for me to say guys like Claiborne and Mathieu and Peterson are just freaks who've always been that way. I wasn't watching their development as closely

I like his chances against Baylor, big game bob, Iowa State, and Kansas every year.

That's the whole thing that makes it not make sense to me. Y'all keep harping on him wanting new challenges.... How in the Ben Affleck level of Hell is the Big 12-4+2/4 supposed to even be a challenge at all? It is one of the weakest conferences in the BCSAQ's. Even the usual powers are down. Baylor and Okie lite are improved but they are getting fat on shitty teams and fallen kings (Texas & Oklahoma)

There is no challenge to be had at Texas.

this is just plain old stupid speculation but Alabama has a lot of big prospects coming in this weekend....

there's no way he held off on signing the papers just so he could do it with all these kids in town to impress them?

insane conspiracy theory I know

Is he gone yet? I was hoping the Bama fan meltdown would be here in time for the weekend.

Let's not forget, they did pick up TCU. Yeah, the Big 12 is a joke.

no one knows if there are papers on his desk or not. Finebaum is an idiot; he's the only one that said that.

What happens when Saban gets to Texas and fails to build a dynasty?

As one of the many UT fans pissing his pants over this, I have to say that's a damned good question.

I don't care how much they pay him. It ain't my money. What I want is a sense that we're clearing out institutional rot and instilling discipline and accountability into the program.

If he can win the Big 12 by Year 2 we'll be happy.

I have said a couple time why he is putting off signing the papers. You can go back and look at my post history. I think I went over it on this board somewhere late last night in the "why hasn't he signed yet" thread.

I happen to think everything is calculated. The way his papers are arranged on his desk are calibrated for maximum efficiency. The stadium plays the right songs at the right time to get the right recruits excited. Everything is for a purpose.

right I put that the wrong way

like these 5 star kids are in town and Saban says "I just agreed to this contract to stay at Alabama"

a coach wouldn't pull this shite for recruiting leverage... would he?

insane conspiracy dammit I'm over thinking it again

This isn't the first time he's let an extension sit there for a while.

Claiborne isn't a freak - he was very talented, but developed naturally, organically.

Mathieu and Peterson are freaks - Peterson, particularly - I watched his first drills at LSU and realized that he was completely ready to play cornerback in the NFL - fresh out of high school.

But that is fairly uncommon.

I can tell you that there is, in fact, a contract ready for him to sign. And I don't even listen to Finebaum anymore. But he is right on that tidbit if he actually said it.
