well with this whole situation the freak out period was awhile ago and now that nothing has happened we are in the "I have no idea what will happen phase" so there's no reason to keep being emotional about it

Except that I'm a perfectly reasonable poster. I'm not acting like an idiot and some of the posts im talking about being deleted are perfectly acceptable posts going along with the whole charade of this click farm board. You on the other hand would be acting like Maximus after an all night binge from losing the natty in a shut out.

<3 Max, I know you be joxy'ing.

Yeah, I know. Should have, could have, would have, but whatever "reason" you have that Texas can't go on an Alabama-eque run of national titles is bs.

Don't try to insert logic into the argument.

Alabama is the best job in the country. Before Saban came in, they had great coaches like Belichick, Cowher and Jimmy Johnson holding the fort down since the Bear.

it wasn't me shitting on your past run, but with Texas being Texas you should be up there with USC who has a similar name and resources but for some reason Texas hasn't got the titles

that might have a lot to do with your chief rival being Oklahoma but I'm not a Longhorn so I don't know the situation

In all seriousness, how smooth do you think a transition will be from Saban to Smart? Would ya'll prefer a proven head coach, or is it a better play to give Smart a chance - if it works - great - if it doesn't, that gives the next coach a good solid buffer between himself and Saban? Interesting times...

Will answer this when I get a chance so I can expound on my thoughts

you're providing reasons why UT is throwing a boatload Saban's way

USC was another program that went into the shitter since the 70s.

Their resurgence is only over the last 12 years, but has taken a hit since Carroll left.

I imagine Bama will similarly drop like USC after Saban says..

I'M GONE

it's probably not the worst idea

I just don't know if he can get the ball rolling and get the title machine going before he starts thinking about calling it quits

whether he stays at Bama or goes to Texas he's not going to be a coach for over 5 more years

If LSU fans want someone to blame for all the non-LSU fans here, blame Chicken. He's the one who created the best message board on the interwebs

Maybe Chicken will consider lifting the moratorium for a couple of hours while declaring all trolling restrictions lifted temporarily. Especially if we don't get any news to keep us going.

Not that this isn't entirely a troll board anyway, but let's kick it up a notch.

He will be within striking distance of the Top 4 playoff in his 2nd year; with the right breaks, he will be in it.

Texas has an extremely talented roster, just shoddy coaching.

Woke up to a long email. cant give details but i have changed my opinion based on who this person rubs with. actually a combo of a couple people that i trust very much. I know everyone here has good inside intel and I am throwing my hat in the ring now to confirm Saban is gone.

Yesterday I actually changed my real thought (when I wasn't trolling Bama fans for fun) that Saban was staying but I have had a couple people I know who all have different angles covered and at different times they all say their Texas people say it is done. 8 years, about 8 mil per from university and another 7-8 kicked in per from boosters per year. Sources cover very very well respected HS coaches in the South, college coaches sources and people who rub shoulders with some heavy hitters. Not telling you to believe me, just tossing my info out there. This is a shite show and

I always thought that if things got this public Nick would pull out of the deal but if he made the bad business deals people are saying then he has to leave Bama unless someone steps up there with the under the table help Nick is going to end up getting.

The one reason I do think he is gone is because Texas is desperate and aTm doing well like they are and in the SEC now and all of that Texas is in a "must do everything at any cost" to make this happen. If it fails it fails but they can't go out and look second tier to aTm without selling their souls.

The biggest thing that is being underestimated here is the Texas vs aTm relationship - Bama v LSU or Bama v Auburn or anyone else does not hold up to their hatred.

He can easily be in the playoff next year given UTs schedule and conference. Mack almost won the conference this year.

A blind squirrel on meth can coach UT and have success.
