"Hearing that Mack will announce his departure from UT and get his $2.5 million buyout plus another $5 million+ tossed in from boosters and soon after take the HC job at Nebraska. Nebraska is done with Pelini's performance/antics and they want Mack's persona and inroads into Texas recruiting. Mack gets a shot to show he was not the problem at UT and to match Saban by winning a MNC at 2 schools. (LOL!!!) It makes a certain very weird sense given that Nebraska was never able to figure out how to beat Mack more than once in 11 tries. Just a pure rumor from a Nebraska insider/business contact in Houston FWIW."

If Mack can pull off a 2.5 mil buyout with 5 mil to boot and get a gig with Nebraska

That would be well played by Brown and his agent if they pulled this off

..and if he is getting 7.5 million, then Texas is DEFINITELY hiring Saban.

Here's the thing, though. If Mack Brown is being PUSHED out at Texas, it is because Texas has someone better already lined up. There is no other reason for it at this point.

You don't get rid of Mack Brown without having a replacement ready to go. If you do, that is just stupid.

From everywhere I can see it looks like Texas is waiting on Mack to make a move whether or not he stays.

"Update:
I spoke to my Nebraska contact this morning (A former NU player) and told him everyone thinks the Mack to NU rumor is "ridiculous". He points out that the move to the BiG has killed NU's vital Texas recruiting base and prospects for the future because NU is way behind the curve in other recruiting areas of the Midwest. He said he is not for the Mack scenario because he lives in Houston and knows how inept Mack is as a coach. However, he says that certain BMDs at Nebraska believe that Pelini is not the answer and that he cannot recruit because he projects such a "jerk" image. The thinking is that hiring Mack would instantly solve the recruiting problem because no one has better relationships with Texas high school coaches and could better develop relationships with high school coaches in other areas. No other high profile hire could solve their recruiting issues the way that Mack could. NU just has to insure that Mack gets very strong coordinators.
I asked him about the TV alternative for Mack. He pointed out that it would probably come down to money. Mack gets $4MM+ at NU or around $1 million at ESPN. He says the word is that Mack hates the LHN media stuff and still wants to succeed as a coach to refute his critics at UT. He says that the pressure on Mack would not be nearly as great at NU. He hopes that Mack goes the TV route to avoid Mack at NU.
All FWIW. I doubt it happens but there is a certain perverse logic."

This guy is on to something.

Rumor of the year, by far. Brilliant.

No way this has legs. It can't. But wow

I read that Joe Jamail, pissed off that people were pushing Mack out at UT has simply purchased the University of Nebraska and will be installing Brown as head coach. His next purchase will be the entire Big 12 (ten or whatever it's called nowadays) and will reinstall Nebraska in the conference to thumb his nose at the people that pushed Mack out.

I read it on www.ifmyaunthadafloppershe'dbemyuncle.com

Or somewhere like that.......
