Mack Brown interested in UNC position

Does Mack get a shot here?
Per Rotoworld-
According to a report, former Texas HC Mack Brown is "very, very interested" in the newly opened North Carolina head coaching job.
A separate report from ESPN's Tom Luginbill said, "Mack Brown will be the head coach for a second tenure at North Carolina. Mark it down." Wow. Brown has been out of coaching since 2013, but he didn't rule out the possibility of a coaching return in an interview last season. If there was a job that did make at least some, if any, sense to come out of coaching retirement, it would be this North Carolina job since he was their head coach way back in the 1980s and 1990s. But there are certainly concerns about his ability to recruit and coach since he's 67 years old. The report suggests that Brown would be bringing in an all-star coaching staff that could include Kliff Kingsbury as his OC and former Texas DC Gene Chizik as his DC. There will likely be more to this story, so stay tuned.

Did UNC not watch the last 4 years of Brown's Texas tenure? This would be very underwhelming, IMO

Lol. He's already been fired as the UNC DC once.

His last 4 years at Texas would be a major improvement at UNC.

I guess some of you are too young to remember Mack was already HC at North Carolina once

Mack helped lead the country club UT athletic dept a few years ago. He may still have some fire to come in and stabilize the program for a few years. The question is whether he still has that fire.

No way I’d hire him.
There are coaches that the game has passed, like Les Miles, and then there is Mack Brown.

I remember it well. He could never beat FSU. He wants to get in on it while the gettin’s good.

I agree. I wouldn’t either.

And you know this because you sell insurance or something?

Recruiting is what killed him at Texas. Would be much worse at NC.

Mack Brown led UNC football to multiple top five finishes in the mid-late 90s. He couldn't beat FSU (no one could). Now, it's Clemson.

"O" better make his move!

He resigned as their DC, wasn't fired. He actually had their defense much better than they were before he took over.

If you are UNC...you probably arent doing better than this. Brown will recruit well, coach for probably 5-7 seasons and deliver above average results.

At 67, Mack Brown should be thankful he can still walk up steps.
It would be beyond stupid for UNC to hire Brown.
I'd love to provide an, 'unless...!' scenario but I cannot think of any.

If they were smart they'd set their sights on Neal Brown or Seth Littrell. They need someone young who can bring in an exciting offense and can put together a solid recruiting staff to compete against Clemson. With the Jordan Brand backing and access to NC basketball, the Tar Heels should be much better than they have been in football. They could easily go 9-3 or 10-2 every year with the right talent and coaching mixed with that weak arse conference.
