Luke Fickell is the coach that Scott Woodward was hired to pull off

Woodward was hired to sell the job. Fickell is the best man for the job that needs a bit of selling to his family. It’s hard for me to see Scott taking no so easily and Luke not hearing the pitch out.

I'd love to have Fickell.
He's not the only coach out there who'd do great here, but he'd be a terrific hire.
And I have never bought this idea that he can't be pulled out of Ohio. Coaches are nomads. Everybody knows this.

Ohio is the perfect place to raise a family.
Great schools, low crime.
Maybe he cares more about his childrens education and safety than making a few extra bucks.
OSU or Notre Dame will be his in time.

We are literally talking anywhere from a 50-75 million dollar pay raise over next 10 years.

I think Fickell is the same bad timing that kept Les from going to UM. He may want LSU, but he isn’t going to risk years of hard work to reach a goal that is right in front of him.

No he didn’t! That was Marcus Freeman’s Wife.

So Woodard was hired before 2019 to pull of hiring a Coach with a 15-10 record?

A family man will do what's best for his family. Making them substantially more wealth and solidifying their future. Money isn't everything but it goes a long way to giving your family the best life possible.

He was hired to hire the guy that without Woodward we probably can’t hire. Is that simple enough for you?

It’s pretty simple; If the head coach at Cincinnati is offered a job like LSU or USC, and he’s not even luke warm on it because of his “family” or “ties to the area”, you don’t up the ante, you simply turn and walk away. Because that’s not the kind of man you want coaching a program like LSU’s.
You don’t want a guy who’s main priority is being cozy in his job and his surroundings. You want a guy who lays awake in bed at night, wondering if people will still speak his name with honor and glory 100 years after he’s dead. You want a guy with marital problems, because he’s married to football first and his wife second. You want a guy who cares more about his legacy than his own health. Nice guy? Who cares. Good father? frick you.
It’s all about that crystal. And then once you get it, it’s all about the next one. And the next one. You know the kind of person it takes to build a true dynasty? One that is forever looked at as historic and beyond precedent? It takes a real piece of shite human being. A brilliant, focused, dedicated, obsessive piece of human shite.
You don’t offer Fickle more money if he says no. You just walk away and start looking for the next Saban instead.

Agree here. Fickell was “the guy” at the very beginning then the coach a day stuff starts.
