Ed Orgeron needs LSU a hell of a lot more than LSU needs Ed Orgeron

ETA: of course that would be a Jeff Duncan article

Not need...more so want. LSU should WANT (ode to our former HC LOL!) him.... as a DL coach/recruiter and nothing more. But we DON'T NEED him.

This is why coach O w/ big OC is terrible idea..

Let's say it's Lane Kiffin, he tears it up and then leaves for HC job, repeat every single year! Our team is learning a new offensive playbook every single season, IF WE HAVE GOOD OC! if they don't have to learn one it means our OC sucked and didn't get HC job!!

This is a terrible idea!

he's playing politics to divide the LSU fanbase for his own personal gains/desires

i don't hate him for it, but it's very slimey, esp since he won't stay here if we hire another coach (and we probably can't keep him now b/c of his behavior)

They say jimbo is tha answer to beating saban so let's give him all our money. O doesn't know nottin about no football because he a DL coach and his resume bad. I want a spread offense so we can get yards and points like dem saints!! Who dat

We don't need need O.

We won 2 NCs before we ever hires O

O was hanging out in Mandeville before we hired him.

I posted this in another thread:

quote:

I have heard that Orgeron may have been lobbying for the job through the press... I think especially to Bobby / T Bob Hebert, as if that's a bad thing. Frankly, if Orgeron is telling the press he loves the job and wants the job, he's kind of just telling the truth. If talking heads want to then advocate for him, it's a free country and they're welcome to do so.

I haven't heard anything else aside from the above. I believe the majority of people assume Orgeron will be so butt-hurt if he doesn't get the job that it will be impossible for him to return to his DLine/Recruting Coordinator duties. I'm sure he'll be disappointed, but this sort of thing happens to people all the time in all sorts of industries. Sometimes people do get upset and leave... sometimes they stay and remain loyal.

Is this the gist of it? How is Orgeron lobbying for himself a problem? Isn't that what anyone would do... and what every coach does when they declare they've never been happier or more proud to coach wherever they happen to be any given year? Is Orgeron doing something specifically dirty in the way he's lobbying, or is it a matter of you just not thinking he's the best choice and hoping he can't convince enough people to give him the nod?

fwiw, I've been a little more pro-Herman, then Jimbo, but am not opposed to Orgeron.

bump

Nobody who is of the "Screw Orgeron" camp seems to want to elaborate beyond stating he's lobbying for the job-- which should be expected. It wouldn't make sense for him to not lobby for it.

Again, I say this as someone who would be happier with Herman or Jimbo. (Orgeron has proved he can guide a team to not fall apart on an interim basis; he hasn't proved he can build/sustain a program.) But I also don't see why it should be not only, hell no, but you also need to get out of town-- period!

If he doesn't get the job, but gets a raise which puts him close to 7 figures as a position coach/ Rec. coordinator, and he still gets to hang out in Mandeville, I don't see how he's going to automatically poison the well. He's still a good coach and an asset. His kids will still play hard for him.
