This can't be true. No way a HC would do that.

AUBURN, Alabama – Though no agreement has been finalized and changes remain possible, Gus Malzahn is on the verge of accepting a reduced buyout and other limitations to remain for his seventh season as Auburn’s head football coach, sources told AuburnUndercover.

Malzahn’s buyout, sources said, would be reduced by an unspecified amount. Any coaching staff moves would have to be revenue neutral, effectively removing the possibility of paying buyouts for assistant coaches and assuring Chip Lindsey would remain as offensive coordinator unless he chooses to leave.

We should've thought of that before we retained LEs Miles another year.

Its like George Costanza negotiating for less money.

He should go full Costanza and try to get fired now so he can get the full amount. Tie the 2010 Trophy to the back of his car and drive around the parking lot. Show up to basketball games as Bodysuit Man.

No. There's no way they are going to fire him having to pay that much money within 30 days. That article is bs or something major is left out.

Lol at Gus. That’s flat out dumb. Making it easier and cheaper to fire him later. Take your full buyout and run Gus.

He is betting on himself. I like that he is finally showing confidence in some way.

I think there is some truth to this.

Would also be fair to say that Gus/Jimmy Sexton played their hand too strongly last year. It’s obviously caused some bad blood among the boosters and fan base. You could look at this as somewhat of a mea culpa. Still betting Sexton gets paid.......

Why should he bend over to make it easier for Auburn to fire hire him?

If I just made $30M in the last 6 years, I wouldn't give a shite.

But doesn’t this make it more likely he won’t be their coach for much longer? If the only thing stopping it now is money then it doesn’t make sense to chip away at that leverage
