We destroyed Riley's team in 2019, he had no one scheming for a real pro-style offense. why would this be a good call?

Tell people this all the time. LSU has to overpay for coaching staffs because they have to deal with BR everyday. Not a top 5 coaching job for this reason alone being forced to live in Louisiana. Constant natural disasters, low education, terrible wages, dirty, poverty stricken at almost any corner and is spreading to the areas that aren't, BR/NO 2 of the highest crime rate cities in the country, rank damn near last in everything, leaders that never get anything done but rather regress the state, etc.

People are still acting like we have an inept Joe Aleva leading this search. Believe it or not we have an elite AD now who has negotiated multiple big time hires. Riley may or may not be interested, doesn't matter. Woodward will get who he wants have some faith.

I don't believe Norman, OK has ever touched double digit murders but, yeah, Baton Rouge would be attractive to him. Bad news folks...money isn't everything. Under no circumstances would I move back to Baton Rouge and I grew up there. Baton Rouge is a shite hole now. Riley won't be in Baton Rouge until Oklahoma plays LSU in Baton Rouge.

Have you ever been to Norman? I lived there for 3 years. I'm not a big Baton Rouge fan, but I would MUCH rather live in Baton Rouge than Norman. It isn't close. Norman is on par with College Station and Starkville. Some people may love living in places like that. Some do not.

Also, I've never felt unsafe in the areas I go to in Baton Rouge. Are there too many murders in the Baton Rouge city limits? yes. However, no LSU football coach will find themselves in those spots often.

He’s hit his ceiling at OU and he knows he ain’t winning shite there, maybe? Meanwhile, Mr. Shrimpboat captain Orgeron literally has a championship fall into his lap at LSU. You can’t tell me he doesn’t see the benefits at LSU.

He’s the QB whisperer.

The whole country saw what LSU looks like with a Heisman QB in 2019.

It makes all the sense in the world for both sides and it’s so fricking simple.

Couple things;

1. He's always going to be "The guy who took over for Bob". Why not step away from that?
2. He's eventually going to have to be in the SEC West, get into it now and start recruiting.
3. He's young enough to be the next Saban of the SEC West once he retires.

1. Most people have forgotten about Bob.
2. There will likely be pods in the expanded SEC...he will be in one of the weakest pods with Texas, Arkansas and Missouri.
3. He will be the Saban of his pod...

There is no reason for him to leave OU...it is a lateral move.

People need to stop dismissing the financial prowess of LSU

Both LSU and OU bring in about the same revenue for football, but LSU has nowhere near the booster money OU does with Oil and gas tycoons. OU also has no coaching buyouts to pay at all. If Riley didn’t go to the NFL after multiple offers including the browns he’s not going to LSU

Thank you! I keep seeing all of these people thinking we can get a coach to make a lateral move to Baton Rouge or even a move down from the NFL. These people are setting themselves up for a major letdown.

This is completely untrue. You’re a bit out of your league trying to argue on this one.

It's not nearly as bad as it used to be, but yes, Norman is not a particularly fun place. Baton Rouge is a different flavor of not fun, but it's not like the land of oil fields, constant 20+ mph winds, and land that is too shitty to be anything but cow pastures is fun either.

In general this is an overstated point. You are a football coach. You spend ~90% of your waking hours in a football facility of some sort during the season and can use the private jet to go wherever the hell you want whenever you don't need to be on campus for a few days. Location really doesn't matter unless you want to be left alone in which case you go to Los Angeles.

I like this hire as well. And I’d say we may see some elite talent follow up to Baton Rouge. May even see Caleb Williams come along with him. Caled loves Riley and he was the main reason he chose OK over other top spots including LSU.

Ok, so now I am going to flip sides in the argument. I have been arguing with sooners that LSU is a better job than OU, but it's not because of Norman. I live in OKC and my wife and I like Norman. It doesn't pack the same game-day punch LSU does, but it's a nice town, and is a part of the OKC metro. OKC is a great place to live with a lot to offer a young family. Food will never be as good as south LA but there are some good grub places here too. While there are many arguments to be made for Riley going to LSU, Norman is not one of them.

Or maybe he is intrigued by the fact our last three coaching hires all won national championships and he hasn’t been able to. Let’s see, Oklahoma high school talent or Louisiana hi school talent. Not a very tough call I would think. Who is closer to the talent rich high schools in the south east? Oklahoma or LSU?

Who knows what will happen, but I don’t think it’s as clear cut that he wouldn’t come to LSU as you make it out to be.

Agree, he would only be adding pressure to himself and he's not bringing in NFL talent for offensive and defensive schemes. Why would all that just change at LSU?

The cumulative talent that Riley can get at LSU is better than he has at OU, IMO.

What if Lincoln Riley is just an average coach in a weak conference ? His teams seem to get their asses beat in the playoffs. Do you want Woodward doing his normal overpaying for a coach and then be buying out another coach in a couple of years?

Since you have moved away and hate Baton Rouge so much just cut the cord and quit being a LSU fan
We don’t need you and other schools could use the support
