Not happening. Only way he leaves over there is if he's not happy because they'll match what we offer.

How do you know they will match what we offer? If we are offering , if true, 10-12 million, how do you know OU will match that. Not saying they wont but why does everyone naturally assume that other schools are willing to break the bank for a coach as we seem to be?

Because they have money to do it. They're not poor. LSU can't just go into OU and rake away their coach from a blue blood with deep pocket boosters. If they want him they'll pay him and they want him so he's an unrealistic option for LSU. He might make all the sense in the world and I can see why he's #1. Woody is just doing his job and going to make him say no...which is what he's going to do. Use LSU for a pay raise.

We will settle for someone like Napier which probably isn't too far down the list. LSU fans should be mighty happy with that settling there. Risky hire but it has the highest potential.

Riley makes a ton of sense and would certainly win several championships here. Saban would hate it if we hired him.

Imagine if Riley had the recruiting classes that we had the past 3 years!? Top 4 every year!

Question is- who then takes the Ok job?

So OU, a school with more money than LSU, is going to let their 36 year old HC walk with a Heisman QB returning for 2 more years?

sounds legit

Couple things;

1. He's always going to be "The guy who took over for Bob". Why not step away from that?
2. He's eventually going to have to be in the SEC West, get into it now and start recruiting.
3. He's young enough to be the next Saban of the SEC West once he retires.

He’s hit his ceiling at OU and he knows he ain’t winning shite there, maybe? Meanwhile, Mr. Shrimpboat captain Orgeron literally has a championship fall into his lap at LSU. You can’t tell me he doesn’t see the benefits at LSU.

It will be a tough pull for sure but there are other factors as well.

If OU was staying in the Big 12, I would say no chance. He has an auto playoff birth every year. But that's about to change when they join the SEC, and he knows it. He's seen the types of athletes LSU can bring in up close and personal. I am not saying OU can't win in the SEC, they definitely can. But I am not being a homer when I say it would be easier to win at LSU. He could see the value in that. Not saying it happens, again it will be a tough pull, but that it is reasonably possible.

This is actually a good point too and something I haven't thought about. For as great as LSU has been the last 20 years, we don't have that iconic coaching legend that is almost impossible to live up to. Joe Pa at Penn State, Stoops at OU, Bowden at FSU, etc.

Lincoln could very well become that guy if he came here.

Well, if Woody was to pull this off you talking about an AD dragging their dick all over a university. That would be quite the site to behold and I'm not sure I can remember a bigger steal for a university recently?

Obviously a different sport and different magnitude but....

Woody just did it when he took Mulkey.

Just like everyone said A&M, which was a bottom tier sec school, couldn’t pull FSUS coach because they were a blue blood that had just won a natty with a heisman QB. And how everyone here said we didn’t have the money to pull Kim mulkey.

I kind of quit paying attention but did Oklahoma and Texas have to pay buyouts to exit the Big12 and does that have any effect on their allocations for coaching salaries or is it completely separate funds?

1.) Women's basketball is not in the same stratosphere in money making for a university so they'll go to bigger lengths keeping their coach in football. Easier to make a coup in a sport that nobody gives a shite about but that definitely was a nice steal by Woody.

2.) FSU situation is completely different. Jimbo was already on his way out. He maxed himself out at FSU, the fanbase was getting sick of him, and he had issues with their admin that was rumored for years before he departed. Not exactly comparable to Riley's situation now. Jimbo leaving was a more he needed to go situation anyway especially after their terrible season. FSU wasn't going to dump to retain him because they didn't want him anymore for that crazy deal. In hindsight, they probably regret not doing more to keep him now.

They might have A situation where LSU offers Riley crazy money and OU just nopes right out. It won't be because they lack the funds to match it. They will do it because they choose not to and feel like they could do better for the money which I doubt applies to this situation.

People need to stop dismissing the financial prowess of LSU

We will sell our kids education down the River to fund football- and we do

It’s not about how much money the school has it’s about the TAF and boosters. We have deep pockets there and can compete with anyone from a booster standpoint. Does OU and Bama have boosters with deeper pockets though? I don’t know but we can compete from a booster standpoint regardless of how well the schools are funded.

I don't believe Norman, OK has ever touched double digit murders but, yeah, Baton Rouge would be attractive to him. Bad news folks...money isn't everything. Under no circumstances would I move back to Baton Rouge and I grew up there. Baton Rouge is a shite hole now. Riley won't be in Baton Rouge until Oklahoma plays LSU in Baton Rouge.
