I'm aware of that, and there is no telling how much longer he'll be in it but in general I'd hope we'd go after someone a tad bit younger to turn the program around if it goes south and we need a change. Harbaugh is just the right age right now. Muschamp is even more youthful. I don't care if he hasn't coached a game as a head coach, he's not an average assistant coach. Richt and Stoops hadn't been a head coach before they ended up where they are now.

I like both of those guys, and would be excited about either as the Head Coach of LSU (though I do remember Archer and will be cautiously optimistic about Muschamp). However, LSU has only had 3 coaches stay more than 5 years since Pearl Harbor. I'll take the guy that will give me the best 5 years, and who is not a gamble.
For me, that guy is Butch Davis - others may disagree.

well since we know so much...I hope yall know that Les didnt get paid that much that he got here right? he got a raise because he won a NC..since our AD is very cheap on hiring a new coach. We will lose recruits from 2011 if yall really thing that LSU and Wilson is the only reason that they want to go here...HC also plays a factor into their decisions

Jack Del Rio wants to coach LSU and should be hired 15 minutes after Les would ( don't think this happens) goes. Muschamp, Edsel, Golden, and perhaps Patterson ( something about Patterson ) that bothers me.

I think that Rich Rod will stay one more year and then be let go if his record is much improved.

Curley got the LSU job because of one player's success at his school, and Favre made Curley look like a genius.
You can't say the same for Patterson. He is a defensive guru, and he calls that defense. People also forgot that 2 years ago in a bowl that TCU beat Boise. This past year Boise returned the favor. I think there is a reason TCU is trying so hard to keep him. They know what kind of coach they have on their hands.

I actually agree with you......no logic to my "vibe".
I guess it's the fact that everybody is on his bandwaggon as the next best gadget.

I wonder when Michigan's standard two to three losses maximum per season rule kicks back in? They seem patient for now, but what is the bar in terms of W-L for RR to clear in 2010? In the next two years, I would think he must win 8 or more per season to keep his job? Maybe like 8-4 this year and 9-3 or better the next in 2011, to keep his job?

Patterson has been a HC for 9 full seasons and has 10+ wins in 6 of them, 11+ wins in 5 of them. He coordinates an elite defense. Not even close to a Curley.
Miles on the other hand on coached 4 years at OSU, brings neither offense nor defense to a program and had zero seasons of 10+ wins prior to LSU.

Curley was EXACTLY 39-39, but the 23 games "he" won at So. Miss should rightfully go in the "Brett Favre Screwed LSU without even trying hard" category.
He was able to wrap up the career with 4 consecutive losing season at Muscle Shoals HS.
You don't have to like Miles, or even respect him, but you can't compare him to Curley.
