Could Romeo Crenell be a candidate? Follow me here...He spent a good deal of time coaching on defense in the south. His specialty is DEFENSIVE LINE and he is about to be unemployed. He is also a Belicheck/Parcells guy. Add to that the fact he is the son of an Army Sargent which means he is loaded with discipline that this team needs. It would play right along with our needs and would play right into Lane being gone and the remaining staff staying.

I know this is out there but he would be a perfect candidate.

You can bet that there are NFL teams already making contact with him about being a DC.

Maybe his experience with Cleveland has him wanting to back the college route??? You just never know.

He can probably make 2-4 times the money in the NFL v. LSU. And that is if he is a DC and not an HC after this year. Folks, the NFL pays very well.

Doesn't he run a 3-4? Would that fly at LSU? Or in the SEC for that matter?

Speaking of, would a 3-4 with fast LB's that can tackle be able to slow the spread option?

Actually, I guess a 4-3 with fast LB's that can tackle could slow it.

Woodyball ran a 3-4 at Vandy. Joe Lee Dunn ran all kinda weird shite. Joe Kines ran his mouth, and I didn't understand what he was saying.

absolutely 0% chance of landing Crennel, or Marvin Lewis...but would be REAL sweet to get one of them to replace Gibbs with da Saints

Hey, it would be worth a shot. Miles should give the man a call.

Or maybe Miles is holding out for Jack Del Rio, as has been suggested on the Rant.

You hate to pigeon-hole a guy, but it's a fact - Crennel is an NFL coach, period. He did Grad Asst and coach in college, including the SEC, but he's been in the league since 1981 (and he's in in 60s, now, so that's a big move to make after nearly 30 years).

I could see him entertaining the right offer to be a college head coach, but if he moves back down to coordinator, I see him staying in the NFL.

Throw some money at Bill Oliver (former Bama DC). He would be great.
