Woodward also wanted Jimbo. Twice. Sooooo

Scott Woodward knows about these things and apparently held Mark Stoops in higher esteem than Billy Napier, and Brian Kelly higher than both.

I'm going to say that Scott Woodward's analysis is probably correct.

Woodward also wanted Jimbo , twice. Thankfully , he only got him once.

what if Mark Stoops regularly lays asswhippings on Billy Napier until Florida gets tired of it and buys him out?

What happens then?

Mark Stoops laid an arse whipping on Corey Raymond’s guys this year. And that was with Ricks

You want to blame Kentucky’s 330 rushing yards on the defensive backs?

All I see is you anti-naps starting thread after thread. You come across as paranoid. Settle down man. Did Napiers G5 team beat you G5 team?

Which will make it even more amusing when Texas A&M boatraces Hillbilly Lombardi in the coming years.

OK, I'll bite: what happens then?

I have no crystal ball, but I know Florida won't tolerate a continued run of losing to Kentucky after using them as a doormat for three decades. So, my prognostication: they fire Napier if that happens.

However, if Stoops regularly has Kentucky in the mix to win the SEC East, I doubt he'll be at Kentucky longer than Napier is at Florida. Without knowing any of Stoops's preferred destinations, I'd say he could potentially replace Riley at USC in 2023, or Sarkisian at Texas in 2022.

Or coaching the Raiders. There's always that fallback plan lol.

I'll shut up about him when the Nappyheads aren't on here acting like he's some sort of hillbilly Vince Lombardi because he managed to knock off Arkansas State and Troy. It's the most idiotic cult I've ever seen. And its devotees are all over this board acting like we ought to be afraid of him when we just hired the guy who won more than Knute fricking Rockne at Notre Dame. I'll troll them right back, relentlessly, and I won't be browbeaten about it, thank you very much.

Damn, I expect better than this from you. I didn’t realize you are one of the Anti-Napier bots that was left “on” after he went to UF and LSU hired Kelly. I say this mostly in jest, as I respect the info you bring and generally your opinion.

I am one that likes Napier as a coach. I don’t get the extreme vitriol that was hurled at him constantly on this Board. Not talking about the guys who aren’t impressed, not sure about his coaching experience or recruiting chops, etc. I’m referring to folks like Tiger1988, tiggerthetooth, and others who absolutely crushed every aspect of the man’s qualifications. They’d use the same tired, weak arguments and never engage in honest discussion. If you say “nothing about Billy Napier is good, he sucks at everything”, well, you lose all credibility.

There are lots of guys on this Board, I’d venture there are more, who “like” Napier. There are some of us who wouldn’t have revolted against Woodward if he’d hired him. The man has had an incredible run at ULL, been in the chatter for SEC jobs in the past, and was reportedly the one and only target of a program of Florida’s prestige.

What I didn’t see to the level some of you claims to exist are the “Napier is #1, no one is as good as him, yada yada” crowd. Admittedly I don’t read every thread, but by God the “Napier is shite” threads popped up non-stop before he was hired - and just as often now.

What gets to me are the ones who speak in terms of “fact” regarding the lack of success they “know” he’ll have. None of us know. Sure you can look at the success rates of coaches that jump up to P5 from G5 and state your doubt. But to simply say he’s Tom Herman 2, just because he leaps from G5 to P5, without anything more tangible to support that argument, is lazy and weak. Or to compare scores against common opponents, scores against inferior teams, etc. but not acknowledge the same about Lincoln Riley, for example, isn’t a legitimate fight.

Anyway, I sure didn’t think hiring Napier over a coach Riley, Kelly, etc. was the right call. And in hindsight we seem to know that LSU never pursued him - for some reasons I wouldn’t be surprised are political, or are in line with other Louisiana-style decision-making. However, his name was in the discussion nationally and locally (maybe he put it there?), so some of us got to know him. Some of us see promise, some don’t. However, IMO, the debate on Napier was very unfair.

BUT, it shouldn’t matter to us anymore - he’s at Florida, and he’s tigerbait now. We hired a freaking fantastic, home run of a coach in Kelly.

We’ll know in a few years who guessed right and who guessed wrong. There will inevitably be some “I told you so!” folks on here, either way.

So for the love of God, I just want the Napier threads to disappear. Sure it’s the CCB for all sports, but I think it’s be cool if we’d just report who other programs’ new coaches hire on staff, etc. and stop making it an issue with respect to how others thought Napier or Riley would have done at LSU. It’s a waste of time and energy.

I have no idea what this means. If you alluded to it in a previous post, I apologize, but your OP was so fricking stupid I disregarded the rest of your posts in this thread until you quoted mine.
