match made in heaven? I know lakers need talent but i can't think of a more ideal fit than Luke to take the reigns. Talk about taking over a mega franchise for your first real rodeo.

I'll be interested to see how he does. I actually think he could turn out to be a good coach, but one has to skeptical that GSW's talent is most of their success, not coaching. (Aka Gentry)

This may be the first time in TD history that a thread was TOO on the nose for the board it was posted in? An NBA coach opening thread on the Coaching Changes board??? In January??? Haha. Bravo.

I used to dislike him quite a bit as a player, but after hearing him in post-game interviews or just interviews in general, I've changed my mind.

Although he is currently coaching probably the most stocked NBA team, you still have to know your bidness to excel the way he has. Props to him and he would be a great fit to the Lakers, especially post-Kobe era.

Maybe Devean George can get in on this action

Why not, they won't be at the point they need a seasoned coach. Would need to hire some good assistants since he's never been the lead guy on offense or defense.

Has anyone ever won the status of "coach of the year" while being on an interim basis?

I can't think of any sport in which this has occured.

If the talent doesn't improve, most coaches will have a difficult time breaking 500. I figure Luke or any other coach must see how the current team can be improved rather quickly. A three year building project would kill a coach, ask Byran Scott.
