He doesn't seem like a very knowledgeable person when it comes to college sports period. He talks about ULL and LSU because of who his listeners are. He wasn't even the main one I was complaining about. Just pointed out some really terrible takes he had.

I didn't even mean this thread as a shite on ULL thread at all. I have zero issue with them talking about ULL on the shows. Just the completely terrible takes is what I was pointing out.

I remember hearing this and laughing. I’m a Lafayette guy and support UL but come on…. I had a feeling we were targeting someone who was leaps and bounds more experienced than Napier.
You take Kelly over Napier any day. I wish Napier well though and think he would have been a great coach at LSU too.

Kelly is twice the coach that Napier is.

Everyone I know expected this to happen at some point and is not butt hurt whatsoever. They're sad he's gone, obviously, but we all knew what this was.

People who call into the radio stations are typically crazy people anyways. They don't represent the common fan of any fanbase imo

I'm not talking about the callers though. Not many ULL fans ever really call in anyway. The ignorance that was being spewed was from the host of the shows.

ULL getting into a NY6 bowl this year?
ULL bring a top 25 coaching destination in all of college football?

Really??? Those are things you would expect from callers. The host can be the biggest ULL fan in the world, I would expect them to not live in a fantasy land though.

It's very clear RP3 doesn't know college football that well. This morning he was explaining how ULL was a top 25 coaching job. Really??
To be fair, that's pretty common in Lafayette, especially among ULL die hards who dislike LSU. I've had a handful of arguments with some of them about how weak the Sunbelt is and many other proven facts. Many of them didn't start watching college ball until Hudspeth came along and they started to have decent seasons.

Obviously they arent all aggravating. But I tend to compare the ones that are to the typical ankle biting chihuahua that thinks its the size of a dobermann.

I don't listen to radio so I don't know these guys and can't really comment specifically on them. All I can say is that as a Cajun fan, I have not heard one person say they are disappointed in him leaving before he made a NY6 bowl. Or anything like that. Most people have said, "I hope he doesn't go but his stock is as high as it'll ever be right now", etc.

As far as the top 25 coaching destination, I have not heard a fan say that either. I have heard (and do agree) that we are one of the best G5 coaching destinations currently.

I agree with that 100%. Cincy seems to be the ultimate springboard job right now, but you can start bringing in ULL into the conversation right after that. All thanks to Napier. ULL has an opportunity (if they can make another really good hire) to have up and coming coaches filtering through there constantly. The AD at ULL is doing a fabulous job as well.

Caught 8 minutes of the show on my drive home.

"LSU offered Kelly a contract that was beneath LSU. He was getting paid 2.5 mil at ND, and they tripled that."

Let's ignore the contracts that Tucker, Franklin and Riley just got. LSU should have paid less, for a more successful coach because they are LSU I guess?

"It's not smart to put in the bonuses. 500k added to his contract every year if he wins a NC."

That's a damn bargain raise for a NC winning coach.

Delusional is the only word I can use to describe it. Guess I'm going to have to download some podcast to find decent local sports talk. I don't have to agree with what you are saying, but at least apply some logic to hosting a radio show.

Kelly's resume versus Napier's?

hmmm

I don't know it's a close call, why do you think Napier wasn't phoned?

As someone from a state other than Louisiana, the hate that LSU fans have for ULL strikes me as really odd. I grew up an Arkansas fan and we always rooted for our other in-state schools like they're our second favorite teams, I can't understand why LSU fans constantly shite on ULL so much.

Did y'all ever think that maybe ULL fans wanted Napier to become LSU's coach so badly because they like BOTH teams, and that would give them a sort of "connection" that everyone could root for? I'm sure ULL fans hate losing such a great coach, but if it's to a team that they also like and it's their in-state companion, it softens the blow and they can still root for Napier's success.

Instead you have LSU fans acting like ULL is some rival and happy to see ULL hurting because they lost their coach and LSU didn't hire him.

It's a really weird phenomenon and I don't understand why fans of the biggest program in their state don't support their smaller sister schools at all, let alone HATE a smaller in-state program.

Well because for starters, you have the hate thing backwards. LSU fans are pretty much indifferent towards the Cajuns.

The Cajun fans want SO BAD to be an equal, a rival if you will, to LSU. Both academically and athletically. And they are neither.

So they go to such great lengths to hate on LSU every chance they can get. That comes from them, not from the LSU side.

That's a weird melt. You read this thread and came to that conclusion?

I've been praising ULL multiple times in this very thread.

I don't know who this is, but he must be pretty ignorant if he really believes Kelly was only making $2.5 mil at Notre Dame.
