Heupel would be an excellent fallback option if Kiffin doesn't come here, IMO.

Heupel looks like he could have a heart attack on the sideline at any moment. Dude needs to clean it up and I’d take that into serious consideration if I was going to make a commitment to pay him $10 million a year.

but have had some unfortunate luck with the QB position.
its worth considering Tennessee gave Heupel his pick of the litter for a high school QB. He decided to go all in on Nico and he missed big. Guy doesnt have the skill or character

That’s fine, but you can’t present your data as accurate when it’s factually not. Those aren’t those coaches overall records.

LSU needs to be staying far away from Drink.

I am not as high on Kiffin as other people. But, as soon as I heard that Drink was the back up plan, I was all on the Lane Train!

Big dawg, read a little more before you come out swinging. It's his time at Ole Miss, not overall. I included Top 10 record as well to provide some adjustment.

Clemson was number 3 when lsu beat them.

Thats great, but lane actually doesn’t have a great resume. You can say he has been very successful lately, but his overall resume is kinda shite

Isn't the entire thread about their current positions? Was that not clear to you?

More riskier IMO. I think we should pursue Heupel before Dillingham if Kiffin doesn't work out.

Unless you consider the fact that 40% of it happens before he was 40.

hit resume before Alabama sucks and is an indicator he’s a bad coach.

But he’s won 50+ games the last 5 years.

I would love having any 3 of these guys not named Drink. Heupel has been a favorite of mine and he should get more love on here and this further illustrates that.

Imagine if Bama did the same thing when hiring Saban.

"Yea he won a natty at LSU, but his MSU record sucked! That's half his resume!"

Was Saban fired 3 times before LSU? Because that what’s on lanes resume

I think Kiffin is the top candidate on the market, but I’ve also never seen more mental gymnastics and stat cherry picking than on this board.

Lane’s past (and present) should absolutely be considered. He’s been run out of almost every place he’s ever been and before he got run out, he flirted with nearly every open job. I think LSU should hire him, but we’re going to get to play “is lane going to the nfl” game every year after about 2028

No, but he was fired once. Guess Kiffin has him beat in that department.
